Hi - new(ish) u43 user here!

Hi,

I've joined the forum having switched from Canon FF to OM-D E-M5 (and E-PL5) earlier this year. Been hanging about at mu-43.com a little too.

As well as the bodies mentioned, I've currently got:

O 9-18
O 17/1.8
O 45/1.8
P 100-300
P 14/2.5 (probably for sale soon - replaced by the 17/1.8)
O 14-42 (kit with the E-PL5)

Really pleased with the kit - superb IQ for the size. Close to my old 5dii at low ISO. Loving the cameras' capabilities and their low weight/size.

Paul

Hi Paul and welcome.

Isn't it amazing how liberating a smaller and lighter camera system can be?

If the E-M5 really is close to the 5DII IQ in good light that's a terrific endorsement! Don't forget to post some pictures soon.

Re: Hi - new(ish) u43 user here!

Thanks for the kind words of welcome. I'll certainly post some pics - that's what it's about after all!

As a starter, this is a set I took in Austin Texas a few weeks ago with the E-PL5 - mainly using the 17/1.8. It's a great street combo.

E-PL5 does Austin, TX

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the trip down memory lane - I spent two years at UT Austin in 1998/9 and have some of my best memories from that time. It's just a shame I wasn't toting a camera everywhere with me back then like I do now, but you Flickr set certainly made up for it.

Thanks again.

I've been there 3 times on business now and love the place. Last time I rented a bike from Lance Armstrong's shop (Mellow Johnies) and had a great day out in the hills. Fantastic weather in Feb - was great to get away from the dreadful UK grot and cold we had at the time.

Hi Paul,

Somehow I missed the link to your Flickr when it was first posted but I've had a look now and am really impressed. You seem to excel at street and night/low light, so the 24 hour shoot in London should suit you well!

Re: Hi - new(ish) u43 user here!

Thanks John for your kind words. Would say I'm a long way from excelling in any of my photography! However, the London event did pique my interest so I'm looking forward to learning from the real experts.
