Little black number with a red carnation...!

If I'm breaking forum rules by mentioning a format other than M4/3 then I'm sorry.

On second thoughts.......no I'm not

My first Leica, a 60 year dream arrives tomorrow, Wednesday.

A brand new Leica CL with 18-56mm Lens.......
https://www.leicastore-uk.co.uk/prod...f-3-5-5-6-asph

Yes, yes, yes, I know all about 'poor value' and 'there are far better cameras out there for much less money' but I've achieved an ambition...to own a Leica.

I had to select a model that satisfied both 'management' and my bank manager, the CL fits the bill.

It's an ill wind, but after thee defective PEN-F's..........

BTW....There's no IS, let alone IBIS.

Welcome to the Red Dot Club, D-i-W!
But for the money I think you would have been better off with a used M240 or 262, and possibly a Zeiss or Voigt. lens. Incidentally, The Who Needs a Bl***y Zoom Lens Club , is affiliated to the 'M' Red Dot Club. The two go hand in hand.

I would like to see a couple of photos from the Leica, to see how good it is compared with the Oly output. Look forward to that...………..

Either I am off or there is something not right.. none of the images featured in that BH review is sharp. If that's the quality I am going to get, sorry, I stick with what I have.

Re: Little black number with a red carnation...!

Henry you are most certainly not "off". I would think anyone reading this particular review would be dissuaded from buying this camera from the accompanying images. Soft as the proverbial. I to have recently become a fan of the rangefinder style of camera namely the Fuji X Pro 1, which when it was released in 2012 was praised by reviewers as the camera Leica should have made. Mine is a mint, boxed copy and was made in the second quarter of that year and I paid £250 for it, to say I am pleased with it would be an understatement, it is now my go to camera over all my others. I love it.
PS. Dave, its D Day, {delivery day} today and you have the thrill of unboxing and getting to grips with your new toy, I envy you. Enjoy. Regards, Ian W.

Tisk, tisk Henry. You’ve forgotten the universal and immutable law that camera reviewers don’t take decent photographs just like some people don’t understand irony. Dave, enjoy your little black number, I’m sure that you will get a lot of pleasure just looking at it, holding it and even taking pictures. Congratulations on achieving your dream.

David

Steve - that review is hilarious. The images are soft and would be nothing special even if they were sharp. And why should removing the screen be the key to it becoming a better camera? If that were the case, those of us with flippy screens on our Olympus cameras would glue them in plastic- side out. No, it's just another article by a Leica apologist trying to justify why a clearly inferior-designed camera should cost 5x more than any other.

It's akin to the Private Eye Pseuds' Corner - lots of baloney about the mundane.

Oh, and Dave - I'm not levelling this at the Leica CL - that looks like a very nicely-designed camera.

Re: Little black number with a red carnation...!

Think I am spoilt by Robin who's review photos are just too goood to be true. And the closest thing I guess I will ever have to that Red Dot would be my poor man's Lumix lenses mounted on my Em1.2

I agree with your comment about Robin Wong's images Henry they are always first class and I'm sure sticking with your Leica lens will please your bank manager

That little Leica looks the business Dave, definitely post some images and your thoughts when you've got to grips with it.
