Ask Garrie!

He's too modest and won't appreciate me for saying this, but he's an expert.

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

A couple of things.
Could it be 4:39am (hence street lights still on) not pm.
Perhaps it wasn't a super wide lens, it could have been a panorama with the camera in portrait mode. Then its just another stage in the pp.
I agree that the diagonals should line through giving a smooth flow to the eye.

sums it up well

as has been said already any camera could produce this shot - but not any photographer (without the ND filter capability you could just shoot through a sheet of welding glass ie a Pen could do it too...)

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

The exif does say 04:39 so yes, more likely to be an early start (although if anything like mine it could be the wrong time - must adjust the time on the camera).

And shot at 24mm on a FF camera, so Garrie get out your 12-60 or 10-20, slap on a ND110 or some welding glass and set the alarm for very early

As others have commented, I agree that your derelict shots have real wow factor.

I can't see the EXIF either - how do others manage to do so?

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

I have the KUSO EXIF Viewer installed... it's a case of then right clicking on the image. Sometimes PP'ed images do not show the EXIF, but this one did.

Oh, and well done John for reverse engineering the shot in the first place.

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

I don't like these sorts of Triptych where one image is cut into three. Far better to have three related images.
And the E-3 is more than capable of producung something similar!

There is no exif data in this version of the image, which is why you can't see any

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

So what is KUSO EXIF Viewer showing me then? I am getting EXIF data consistent with other posters' comments made on this thread.

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

Garrie

I have a mate who uses 2 5DII's as well - he likes my Oly and publishes quite a few of my pictures in the magazine he edits so please keep using your camera and obvious skills to entertain us - I so have missed seeing your images recently and the news from Oop North !

David

Yes interesting - none of my standard software is showing it, but it's in the file as you can tell with this hex dump.

So either Canon are doing something odd in the 5D (unlikely) or something in the PP has corrupdated the EXIF block and you've found some software that can see past the problem

Regards
Andy

Re: Is the E3 able to produce the same shot?

I downloaded the Exif viewer (thanks for the info).

I can see all the Exif data now. A very useful tool.
