POTD will be back next week

I just wanted to apologise because there have been no POTDs this week.

I'm currently having to work quite hard on an unrelated project this week and it's basically taken up all my spare time. I do hope that POTD will be back on Monday next week, though.

Are there any plans to bring this or a similar feature back.

Re: POTD will be back next week

I'd very much like to re-start picture of the day, but it needs to be manageable. Time is an issue. I'd like as many different people to be featured as possible - we only feature a photographer a maximum of once in a two month period on DPNow, for example.

How a POTD is selected is a bit of a headache for me; I'd rather not be relied on to do this. Maybe some volunteers could form a selection group?

I'm open to suggestions. We do need more people looking through the gallery - it's full of greatness!

Re: POTD will be back next week

I'm willing to help, just need to work out how we can best do this...

Is there way to set up a member account called "POTD" that people can PM their selection to and then the "Selection team" can take it in turns to access this and pick a POTD from those nominated. If there are none nominated they get to pick one themself.

Re: POTD will be back next week

I wonder, sometimes, if a daily best picture is too much and if POTW would be easier to manage?

Re: POTD will be back next week

A climbing site I frequent does POTD and POTW automatically via the star ratings, but (a) it has a very large audience and (b) the site software is bespoke so they can do anything they want with it. Something for teh longer term maybe?

I think with the 10/20 photos per day we seem to be getting added to the gallery, I tend to agree with Ellie that POTW would be better. I'm prepared to help out if needed and won't be upset if my appalling taste means I'm not needed
