Road to Nowhere

Came upon this scene, in light rain, as I was driving between appointments today. Don't know if I have done it justice but it was lovely

Re: Road to Nowhere

Lovely composition of a beautifull scene and wonderfull soft light. Do I detect a hint of magenta in the sky? Even so, that's a top shot!

I think this one is a little cleaner in the sky.

Re: Road to Nowhere

A very well composed and atmospheric landscape scene. A well taken opportunity to get a great shot. Thanks for sharing

Re: Road to Nowhere

That's better, Greg, shows you don't need sunshine to make great landscape images.

Re: Road to Nowhere

I think I have missed the thing you wanted to show us....soft light, rain etc...I just felt it looked drab so I did it to my liking...hope you don't mind.
Don't know how to get rid of the magenta in the sky so my crop does 1/2 the job...WDYT.
Also put some contrast and sharpness into it.

Re: Road to Nowhere

I'm of the same frame of mind as Keith in that it just looks a little flat to me and landscape is about shape and form .

I have to admit as it was not in the critique section I was a little worried about commenting, especially as some people are a little touchy, but can tell you that if its in Scotland or Wales then days like this just scream out for black and white.

I did a conversion in Elements 7 on it and it worked for me.

Re: Road to Nowhere

Thanks Paul,

you wont get me being touchy I promise I love to hear as many points of view as possible as this forum and flickr are my only sources of help and advice. This forum in particular has been fantastic and I will keep posting to try and get the more experienced members to nudge me along in the right direction

I would love to see your mono conversion if that is okay Paul

Thanks

Greg

Re: Road to Nowhere

Hi Greg, no problem here my take on it which is mean and moody and emphasises the winding road to nowhere and solves the problem of the sky.

Maybe not to eveyones taste but you did ask. and as good as i could get with a low res file.

Re: Road to Nowhere

Works for me with the cvontrasts of the sky/trees with the bright horizon areas.
