My first photos with M.Zuiko 75-300mm Mk2 lens.

I've taken a few photos using the M.Zuiko 75-300mm Mk2 lens on the E-M5 & I rather like the lens, although the zoom feels a little stiff compared to the 70-300 lens & the (specified) hood would be nicer if it was a smaller diameter, but I'm not complaining (especially as my wife was reasonably accepting of me getting this one ). Anyhow, here are some photos taken with it.

Taken at about 1.5m @ 300mm.

A crop of the above.

A Kiwi Fruit vine under the light of a 500W flood light at night.

And Toby giving me the usual "Now, don't you just love me?" look.

A Sulphur Crested Cockatoo enjoying a chew on a Banksia Integrifolia (Coastal Banksia) in our yard.

This lens is certainly worth the new lower price (especially as it came with a 10% discount as well).

They are really good Ross. It looks as if it should be a very versatile lens and the price is much more appealing than the Mk 1 version.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments & I have one more photo.

This is Max & he's saying, "You want to out stare me?"

Re: My first photos with M.Zuiko 75-300mm Mk2 lens.

Hello Ross, these are excellent shots which really show the quality of Olympus glass again. Your crop of the fly retains a lot of detail which I have found also with the 60mm macro. The lighting on the vine is lovely too.
Regards Jim.

It looks like a decent lens if not outstanding. I'm still waiting for mine, 4 weeks overdue at present.

Re: My first photos with M.Zuiko 75-300mm Mk2 lens.

Thanks again for all the nice replies. While this lens is a nice lens, I don't want to give the impression that 100% of the photos I took with it were keepers. It is a little bit more of a challenge with birds in trees etc., (which is usually a challenge anyhow) but generally by using the smallest focus box (14X) I can get good focus, but occasionally (with the contrast focus system), it might try & focus on something behind it. That isn't the fault of the lens though, just this operator trying to use CD-AF correctly (as opposed to PD-AF in DSLR's).

Re: My first photos with M.Zuiko 75-300mm Mk2 lens.

I've had a couple of days with my 75-300 mk2 now, and am deleriously happy with some of the results. Like Ross, it'll take some getting used to, but that's where I am with the camera at the moment as well.

I can't post pics yet (I'm too new here!) but I have to say that some of them are sharp! (Some of them are sharper than others though..... )

Cheers,

Peter
