Re: Firmware 3.1 out

Thanks. All done (quickly took SD cards out, put in full battery & removed lens, just to minimise any issues).

There is one thing though, you will need to reassign the SD card recording order again (Mine is slot 1 photos, slot 2 video & Auto switching from one card to the next when full).

It's kept the shutter speed and slot assignations in the C menus though - which it didn't last time!

Thankfully they did. One source had issues with video/sound not syncing correctly for external HDMI recording & now it's fixed.

It is de rigeur nowadays for ver.X to be followed very quickly by ver.X.1. Customers are used as bug-testers.

Re: Firmware 3.1 out

Loaded v3.1 no problem.Went out in afternoon to local quarry was taking shots in S-AF mode when a sparrow hawk flew low across me about 20 yards away, was on low shutter speed and low ISO with single small square focus point, managed to lock on panning for 2 reasonable shots, seems like there is an improvement in S-AF or maybe just luck.Promptly deleted photos accidently on editing in camera, have repeated this mistake several times, keep forgetting to lock photos first.

You should get some SD-card recovery software - it's saved me a few times. Providing you haven't over-written the files, you should be able to recover the images because it's only the index that is re-written, when you erase or 'quick' format.

Sorry you lost your shots. Years ago I was told/taught not to delete or edit in camera, as it can cause problems later on with the SD card. Is that not true anymore?

Re: Firmware 3.1 out

Great news - I've been plagued by the EVF bug in 3.0 today. Turn the camera on and the image in the EVF is black with just status info like you have a lens cap on! It happened with the EVF set to high frame rate and EVF default style 3.

I think that is old news. The camera OSí used to be buggy, or the cards were buggy, or some such combination. However, I find itís just too much trouble to delete in the field unless I really annoy myself with a frame and want to get rid of the evidence.

I do reformat the cards in the camera before every use (after loading the images onto my computer, of course).

Same. I might scroll through them, but save deleting for once I have a safe copy somewhere.
