Strange Sky

Unusual clouds over Powfoot today so grabbed a quick shot or two.

This is the original.

And this is an HDR version. Still trialling photomatix so please excuse the badges !!

Re: Strange Sky

Well, I don't often say this, but I think the tone mapping has actually improved it :-)

Nice picture..

Re: Strange Sky

I think this is a good example of a case where tone mapping has provided a 'lift' to an image that needed it. I'm sure this this could have been done using other methods, by those well practiced in Photoshop. I don't come in to that category yet.

I like Photomatix but I still haven't mastered it. I never have much success in making my own adjustments so often stick with one of the options provided by Photomatix.

I think that this is a good image, so any advice on settings?

Regards

Dave

Re: Strange Sky

Hi Dave,

this is only my second attempt with photomatix so I am not the guy to help with settings. Sorry.

What I can tell you is that I used the Details Enhancer and custom setting for this one and just played with the sliders.

It`s nice to see HDR being used to enhance a picture, rather than it being the making of the picture! A Big WELL DONE!
