Last shot of the new bridge

For the past 5 years or so I've been working on a sort of informal project on the new Forth Road Bridge (officially it's the Queensferry Crossing, but give it a month and everyone will just refer to it as the 'New Bridge' - which could get confusing as there is a place called Newbridge a few miles south of the bridge on the main road... I digress).

It opened to traffic yesterday and I took a couple of shots on Tuesday night, which will more less conclude the project (and calling it a 'project' might be rather self-agrandising, but what the hey). Not the best shots I ever took, and I was short on time - but here it is, along with a couple from years past.

The only question now is, what to do with the all pictures?

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

Nice shot Mike, it looks an impressive structure. Good to see the earlier construction shot too.

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

Place all the photos into a movie format ie a slideshow and then put on Youtube

Create your own high quality slide show - create a story or script and offer it to camera clubs etc topic. Discuss the problems you came across - eg light weather lack of access etc.

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

Great idea for the time sequence. The shot of the finished bridge is great.

Could even make a nice book, telling the story of the construction! Nice shots.

You could print them out, put them end to end, and see which is the longer...

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

Have been considering a book - though I've still got to do one for a trip I was on last year, and there are even more photos to go through for that...

Nice set I like the last one (or probably first) shot the most.

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

Very nice set. Does the new bridge come with a walkway, or is it just for wheeled traffic?

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

There's no walkway on the new bridge - they opened it to pedestrians for one day, but there was a ballot for tickets and I wasn't successful (there were 50,000 tickets, but about 5 times that number applied).

The old road bridge is going to have pedestrian and cycle lanes isnt it which give a good view of the new bridge.

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

Yes, the old road bridge will still have pedestrian access – so you can walk over it one way and look at the new bridge or walk the other way and look at the rail bridge. Or time one with sunrise and one with sunset.

Re: Last shot of the new bridge

We heard on th etraffic news about the new bridge being open to pedestrians for one day only but couldn't make it as we were busy and just a bit too far away.
