I have repeated settings lenses etc on the em-5 with no problems.
Some photos taken at 1/10 sec ok, some 4000 sec blurred, these should be easy shots with this stabilizer.
this is also NOT camera shake.
One or two more are reporting this problem, i'm at a loss, going to ring Olympus.
Any one else out there having same problem.
I am not critisizing youre photo's, they are good, just out of focus.
SORRY HELP ?

Need a trip to Specsavers.........two sets for the price of one

Nice set of shots, and a great advert for the EM-1.
I'm don't have the funds or ability to justify an upgrade from my E-PL3 yet, but this body is certainly top of my wish list.

I honestly thought you were joking when you said they were out of focus, turns out you are serious!

Bear in mind that these are small JPEG's from original Tiffs - I have as you requested created a 100% crop from the JPEG image and on my laptop it looks sharp, they also look sharp on PC's & Macs at work and they are all in focus so do wonder if it is your monitor especially as you say your images also look OOF?

100% crop from JPEG

Full size original JPEG

They look fine to me!

Re: More Brighton with EM-1

Carlos, why don't you point out some sections of the posted images which you think are out of focus? They look fine to me, so I would be interested to see what is bothering you.

Ian, I love the detail in those gnarled hands.

Re: More Brighton with EM-1

Hi Ian, seems like i have stirred up a hornets nest.
I am veiwing these on an Eizo CG276, and even allowing for them being small jpegs, they are not tack.
Olybirder says he likes the knarled hands, but there is no fine detail in the nails or watch. Having said that, you dont say where the point of focus is, lens, aperture etc. so irellevent.
BUT.. if you look at my original post, I wasnt criticising your'e work, i was asking you or anyone else out there if they are having problems. I am not the only one reporting this and word is maybe a firmware update.
70% of my shots are brillient, the rest are not tack with no reason, all shot with 12mm 25mm pan 45mm and 75mm. Do'nt happen with the EM-5.
Anyway, i am sorry if i have offended you, and i will await any response from Olympus.
PS. I do like youre pics

Re: More Brighton with EM-1

Hi Carlos. Why don't you start a new thread where you can post some examples of your shots which are brilliant and some that are not tack sharp, so that we can see the difference. Post some from both cameras. If you include the exif data someone might have an answer for you.

Re: More Brighton with EM-1

Carlos
It would appear that you are seeing things that others in this thread have not commented on, no one else thinks these images are soft, but lets assume that you may have a problem with your Camera

I think the first thing I would be doing is to rule out the most likely things causing soft shots

Set up Camera on a Tripod, turn off IBIS and focus manually, do the same with the EM5
and Compare
Then try the same with Autofocus switched on and compare with the Em5

As other have mentioned it would be helpful if you posted example of your problem shots with exif intact then people can chime in and help

Re: More Brighton with EM-1

Hi Phil,
Already tried that.
As i have said, it is not consistant, can be brilliantly sharp, and then throw out of focus for no apparent reason.
On the road for the next three days, and then will start a new thread with some examples, and hope Olympus gets back soon.

Carl.

Re: More Brighton with EM-1

I have personally not read any other posts relating to the EM-1 not producing sharp images when used with settings suitable to render sharp images.

Any JPEG that is approx 300Kb in size and 100% crop is then produced from that (so large JPEG blow up from small JPEG file) will lose fine detail, personally I do not have any issues with the images and find the original TIFFS (especially the 16bit 96mb files) very sharp especially as I make a concerted effort not to oversharpen and get artifacts.

It does make me wonder though as you appear to be the only one implying this if it is your monitor?

Hope you get the issues with your camera sorted and I will certainly look out for most posts about unsharp images (shot with settings to render sharp images).
