Sun, sand and seals - what more could we ask for?

We returned yesterday evening from a long weekend staying with friends in North Norfolk. We have made a number of trips to see them since they retired from Hertfordshire some six years ago and one of our favourite times to visit is about now when the seals are about in great numbers.

1. This time a greater number were dark skinned and at first glance from a distance it was not easy to tell the seals from the rocks -

2. Did you hear the one about ...
... that's a good one! -

3. Look at me - I can touch flippers! -

4. What are you two whispering about - so, he's a good swimmer and you're just jealous! -

5. Finally, I rather liked the way the whiskers stand out against the foam -

All taken with the OM-D, 70-300mm lens.

Regards,
Ann1e

Hi Ann1e. They are dark aren't they? Much darker than the seals I have seen in SA. I love the aerobatic pose in No3 and the whiskers in No5.

I like those Ann1e, numbers 2 and 3 are my favourites. On Mingulay I found these things harder to shoot than I'd imagined. I think they were maybe more easily spooked by humans up there.

These are darker than most I have seen on that coast. These look like Grey Seals, rather than the usual Common Seal. Unusual for Norfolk, more often seen on the West Coast. Love the images, Annie, next time you are up there, see if you can get to Burnham on Crouch, nice Tern Sanctuary there, take fast lenses

Far from the Madding Crowd and quite a change from London Annie, love the last especially.

Certainly I've not seen the likes of that species here in Oz. Are you sure they aren't survivors of the Exxon Valdez oil spill?

Lovely shots there Ann1e, you caught some great poses. That OMD certainly gets the best out of the 70-300 too.

Re: Sun, sand and seals - what more could we ask for?

Thanks all - glad you enjoyed the shenanigans of the seals. These groups certainly contained far more dark seals than we have seen in the area on previous occasions. They do seem fairly relaxed about us being on the beach, just so long as everyone keeps a reasonable distance. I have been pleased with the results of the OM-D/70-300 combination.

Imageryone - yes, we should try to get to Burnham on Crouch, if for no reason other than Burnham was my maiden name! We've done Burnham on Sea and several Burnhams in North Norfolk.

Regards,
Ann1e
