Very nice Huw! Lots of nice detail & character captured with these.

It's also good to see you're able to post photos again.

Thanks Mark I'm glad you and other members appreciate it as apparently I was standing around doing nothing in particular when I took these

Re: Winter Robin

If the Robin was 20' feet away did you use the 2x?

Any luck finding a 1.4x?

Re: Winter Robin

Thanks Huw just looking again at both photographs is there a problem with the little guys right foot it seems to be turned in, on both shots may just be they way he had landed but if the shots were at different times it is a strange coincidence? Is he a regular would like to see other shots.

Hello David, both images were heavish crops without the TC.
Regarding the x1.4 sadly no luck yet, I have been keeping my eye out. In fact there was a Canon typeA x1.4 in nice condition on eBay recently, I was about to drop the seller a question about dimensions of the prodruding optic housing but it was withdrawn from sale before the auction ended.

Well I hadn't noticed that either Ed, yes it's the same bird and he is regular as well as another. I will have a look next time I have a chance to take some images.

Re: Winter Robin

Huw, you just reminded me of how I tested the OM 1.4x-A to see what lenses it would fit prior to getting one. The OM is like the FD and protrudes forward in the rear of the lens. I found an optical layout drawing, measured everything and drew it out on a piece of card and cut it out. That allowed me to test which lenses it would fit.

Funny you should mention that, I was planning a cardboard template approach myself but it would have been relying on another parties' measurement skills. Good plan never-the-less
