OMD & Microphones

As anyone as yet fitted a different mic to their )MD?
I ask because from what I can gather the accessory Oly item will take any mic using a 3.5mm jack plug.
Any thoughts?

No idea, sorry. Do you know I haven't once used my OM-D for video? Not even to test it. I suppose I should give it a try.

Re: OMD & Microphones

Hi Roger,
I used mine only for the 2nd time yesterday to film a local Bollywood Dance production.
It brought home to me just how useless I am at movies.
The last time I used movies was at Uni when we all ran around the west end of london
using clockwork Bolex cameras. I should have paid more attention.
However I am working on a project for a Scottish NGO which involves photographing a lot of people and I would quite like to include some short movie clips.
Lots of frustration and hard work looming I think.

Re: OMD & Microphones

I just replied to another thread about this and suggested the Rode video mic as a great general purpose mic. I have one of these and also a Rode shotgun mic and a Sennheiser lavalier radio mic which is really essential if you are going to be interviewing people - but they are expensive. If you are just going to get one I'd look at the first option as its less than £100 last time I looked - which is a great price for a quality microphone.
Video work is hard - and the editing process is slow!
