Question E-1 maximum memory card size

Am I right in thinking that the maximum memory card size for the E-1 is 4Gb?

I ask because I get "card error" messages on my Kingston 8Gb cards after a couple of dozen images. These are cards which have been used successfully on E-520s. I don't get the error using 4Gb cards.

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

What firmware version are you using on the E1.

I have unsed several 8GB cards in the E1. I did have to reformat them in camera though.

I am running the latest (v1.5 i think) firmware.

I use a Transcend 8GB card, but have used several Sandisk 4GB and my extreme 8GB card without problems.

I use Kingston Elite Pro 8GB cards in my E-1 without any problems. Firmware version 1.5.

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

I'm running 1.5. My Sandisk 4Gb cards work perfectly - so, far touch wood. It's both my Kingston 8Gb. which seem to be problematic. Even though they've worked fine in E-520s before. Mind you, a few years ago I had problems with (different) Kingstons - wonder if it IS the cards?

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

Could it be the speed of the cards rather than the size? Just a thought, arising from and overheard conversation last week - newer cards can be faster, which sometimes disagrees with older cameras.

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

Possibly - my Sandisk are "Extreme 3" and my Kingston are "Elite Pro 133x", however that pans out?

But I'm happy enough with 4Gb cards so the "faulty" ones will probably go in the bin. I have a policy of, if a card lets me down once, irrespective of cause, it has to go. No point in keeping something so cheap which may be faulty.

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

Don't forget that some card manufactures offer a lifetime guarantee. It may be worth contact them, or the point of sale.

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

Thanks, but it really isn't worth the hassle. I must have had the cards for close on two years, and I can't remember where I bought them (but probably 7 Day Shop). They are only a few quid, and like I say I've got enough 4Gb cards for my rate of use!

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

It's looking like the individual cards are faulty then. Co-incidence that the only make of card I have ever had any problem with has been Kingston.

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

I should add that the problem only appears when I have been using the accused card for about 25 shots.

Still can't replicate the problem with my E1 .... both cards seem to be happy to take any number of photos with throwing a wobbly

Re: E-1 maximum memory card size

Never happens when you want it to - I too can test a card for ever, but go out in the field and BANG!

(memo to self: don't go out in fields)
