Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I spent a week in South Uist in June. Absolute birders paradise - hen harriers and short eared owls all over the place, corncrakes, red necked phalarope, arctic skuas, corn buntings, golden and white tailed eagles and lots more besides. But the one that came right out of left field and caught me completely unawares was this one:

Avocet by DavidMB2006, on Flickr

Not a great photo, I know, but of all the places to see an avocet, the Outer Hebrides would have been at the very bottom of my list.

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I never realised the little bird was even in the shot. Not sure if it escaped or not. I only had my 12 - 100mm lens on and this is a large crop.

I think (hope) he got away. This was the last in a short burst of images using electronic shutter low speed. The earlier ones had the hawk further away and it was fairly windy.

As I said I never even realised the little one was there until I opened the images on my computer.
