Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 Lens Cap

Just spent half hour taking apart and reassembling my 12-40 lens cap.
One side lost its springiness and the cap kept falling off.
Couldn't for the life of me think how a spring could get out so tried to take the cap apart.
Outer metal ring comes off then top plate revealing the innards.
There was the errant spring laying next to rather than on where it should be.

Spent a happy few minutes trying to get it back on where it should be
Springs doing what they do best meant me looking everywhere as it kept popping off.
So if anyone else has this happen, more than likely its still in there, just a matter of looking for it

Yes I had the same event last week. Banged the lens hood against a doorjam, it eventually fell apart.

Luckily had all the parts, reassembled it, but had to put some spots of glue to keep the metal ring in place.

Works just fine now......

Re: Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 Lens Cap

I have given up using original lens cap. I just change them to generic the moment I buy a lens. That goes for that 40-150 hood. It's now safely kept away.

lens caps are quite tricky to fit sometimes. Not sure why its difficult. probably clumsy fingers...
