Re: Why don`t computers have breathalyzers built in?

I could introduce her to my wife who simply says "it's Your pocketmoney dear"

However in that sentence you see why I don't have that many pro lenses (Yet!)

Regards
Andy

As a single (divorced) guy all I have to do is explain any purchases to my dogs, I just tell them it's dog biscuits from an exotic place and everything's fine

Won't it mean she'll kind of be expecting a couple of lenses in a month's time, though?

I do tend to have a policy of one in one out though, so at the moment it tends to pay for itself.
mine's the same, but then again I don't usually discuss pending purchases - only provide reasons after the event.

only time I approached it the other way was regarding a 300/2.8 I could have for 2k - and the reaction surprised me...so I got a 35-100 instead

Well, let's think. A couple of tins of Uncle Joe's Mintballs and a can of talc should look roughly the same when packaged

I am begging to think you have a track record for this sort of scenario

A lifetime of, shall we say, fond deluded deception. Fond 'cos I think I'm getting away with it but deluded 'cos She knows what's going on all the time. Methinks She's (a lot) brighter than me.

Just come clean and admit that you've bought two new lenses but point out that they are "cheap" Sigma equivalents rather than the "much more expensive" Olympus ones. Then quickly add that you think it's only fair that she should have £200 to spend on herself as well.

Re: Why don`t computers have breathalyzers built in?

As I left for work this morning I casually said to the wife "by the way, a parcel may turn up today and I dont want you opening it as it is for your birthday, but I had to get it now while I could" Now I think I have covered myself quite well, as if she does find out they are lenses, then I can say "Yes, thats right, I bought them to take pictures of your birthday" At no point did I say it was her present!
