Re: The Forum purpose ?

Even as a (very) occasional and fitful contributor I find the forum useful and engaging. I learn from what I read here and I feel included in the sense that I am reminded there are others like me that appreciate Olympus kit.

I have not been on the forum for a while (work commitments, threatened redundancy and heaven knows what else!) However, having just popped back on here it is good to see familiar names posting interesting photos and imparting useful tips.

Keep it up folks.

Re: The Forum purpose ?

All sorted thanks, and now I've gone mad and bought an E-PL3 and a Panasonic G3 plus lenses (I just can't resist a bargain) it's about time I got down to actually taking some photos!

Re: The Forum purpose ?

Like Dan I have been a fairly fitful contributer but, even though I am not a regular, my questions have always been helpfully and patiently answered. As well as this it is lovely to browse through Foto Fair and see the myriad of different subjects people point their lenses towards. I find that there is (almost) always someone who has done what I am trying to do and I can take something away to ponder and try.

Now that I have a bit more time on my hands I hope to be able to contribute more often and give back some of what I have been given.

Thank you all for making this forum such a friendly and helpful place to visit.

Will

Re: The Forum purpose ?

I belong to a Photo Group who meet twice a month. (Well three times at the moment as we are running an extra course for improvers.)

Those of us not cursed with the 'W' thing, where you have to keep on going to the same place every day, tend to meet up at the Nature Reserve(Where we are based.) on a Friday to chin wag, take photos, kid each other and generally hang out.

The Forum gives me the same thing every day. The only missing element is the Canon v Nikon v The rest of the World friendly banter.

It is also responsible for me going on a Photo Visit, as is my Photo Group.

Well, remember this forum is the lovechild of Olympus, so they could well be looking after their offspring ....

Re: The Forum purpose ?

I still think that Olympus is a top down company - the top being the Japan intergalactic HQ, I do not think much information gets back up from the off shore islands of Europe.

oooh! I think the relevant info gets home to HQ - or else financial support would be withdrawn ...

Re: The Forum purpose ?

requests for improvements get lost - eg ability to store camera settings to a cs file that can be downloaded and stored.

An explanation of what the designers thought the various functions were for and how they should work. Specifically the focussing methods used, most knowledge we have is based on observation and not on a defined set of definitions handed down from the design team.
