A deserved win for Snow Globe, and well done to the runners-up!

My photo was my annual Christmas card to family and friends around the globe, so I had one ready made!

Looking forward to the next challenge as well.

David.

I would be interested in how "Snow Globe" was processed.

Mine was our rather pitiful Christmas Tree here in China, with a christmas ornament my wife found in the local shop.
I turned all but the christmas lights off, mounted the E-400 on a tripod and exposed for the Christmas lights.
The ornament was placed on a table in front of the tree with black material.
I had to use an LED pentorch to light up the ornament to give it better lighting.

So, here's the photo of the tree, and a modified card to wish you all "Happy New Year".

Re: 36th Challenge - Christmas Card - Results

Thanks for voting for me guys (& girls) & cheers for running steve

Will post a new challenge over the next couple of days (dependent on the state of my head in the morning)

nothing special in taking the pics, the globe was on the tree taken with the e-30 with 35mm macro + 1.4 convertor the snow scene was on chilly walk a few days before e-30 35-100
Used 3 layers in photoshop top and bottom layer the globe, mid layer the snow trimmed to the shape, I then erased the centre of the to globe with a soft edge

Cheers

Dave

Thanks Dave, and congrats on the win!

I use PS mainly for levels/curves/contrast and cloning out features. I've seen this type of effect before, but a simple list of the process is helpful as a starting point.

David.

I voted for it as second place, but (sorry if I'm out of line given your excellent photographs on this forum) it would have placed higher if you'd have cropped the bottom a bit. Strangely, I found those twigs/branches distracting from the eyeline to the church and would have cloned them out.

Mediocre it was not, and would have made an excellent Christmas card.

David.
