Exclamation Hot Photos!

But not what you were thinking.

What to photograph on a grey, wet winters day?

When "I were a lad" and we had coal fires we used to love to sit in front of the fire and look for "pictures" and patterns in the flames. Now in my "second childhood" I have access to a modern wood burning stove. So today I went looking for those pictures again.

WOW! Two messages in this one!
"Caution Contents Hot." My Granny used to say "The Demon Drink will lead you to the Fires of Hell.

Well at least it kept me warm and dry and amused.

Regards.

Re: Hot Photos!

Lovely warming thread

There is "something" about the red; orange; yellow and blue flames licking themselves around and above the logs that "warms" the heart

and there is "something" about photographing them - I learned recently at the "Barn of Hay fire" - let alone the very physical warmth of the fire.

These images remind me of a time, long long ago, in a far off land of snow covered mountains, after a days hard ski; a hot bath or shower; collapsing on the sofa in front of the communal log fire in the lounge - where we sipped hot chocolate with Brandy ... or either ingredient, alone laughing about the days spectacular falls

Re: Hot Photos!

You're right, Peter, this is not what I was expcecting (hoping) from the title.

Nevermind, watching a real fire is often more interesting than watching television, unless you derive a perverse pleasure from witnessing The X Factor self-combust.

She was not wrong, I've been there many times myself!

Re: Hot Photos!

Thanks Chevvy, John and Iain.

I certainly got warmed up taking these. I had to open the curved glass door of the stove to avoid reflections and distortion. It was so hot sitting so close to the fire I was afraid the lens hood would melt and my hair catch fire.

Regards.

Re: Hot Photos!

Nice photos Pete

Until recently I used a similar photo of a peat burning stove as my desktop background.

Thanks for that idea Chris. Up to now I've only ever used a plain blue desktop as it's more restful on the eyes but I might try one of these to give a warm feeling for the winter.

Regards.
