Seriously, didn't the pilot of one of the very early mach 1 exceeding aircraft discover the 'up' and 'down' responses of the stick were reversed around that speed? As I recall, 'left' and 'right' stayed the same, so it's not a perfect parallel.
This makes an interesting read if you haven't already.

I would like to see the fault tree analysis on the MCAS design. One sensor to determine pitch is not fault tolerant. I think I read recently that Boeng offered the two sensor upgrade, but at an additional cost. WTF!!

Yes I believe early supersonic flight had its problems. With certainty they would have mathematically modelled based on fluid dynamics, but didn't predict the transonic zone and its effects. When I started out we used analogue electronics to help with modelling.
