If it is your first attempt at portrait photography then you have done well.

But If I'm to be honest and give a real critique as asked for then for me it looks all wrong.

The angle of the head looks awkward, the shoulder is turned to much towards the camera for a male portrait which is also creating creases in the kneck.

The mouth looks tight and awkward and you need to get him to relax, after all posing is just acting for the camera.

I also think it is overlit on the main plane of the face and you are nearly losing the hair against the black background, so if you light it correctly you will need to use a hair light or reflector to seperate the hair from the background.
