I received this remote control yesterday and have just given it a try with a bird feeder in the garden:

So far it looks an excellent piece of kit. You can operate the receiver switched off as an ordinary remote release, or switched on and use the transmitter. I was able to sit in the warmth and operate the E3 in comfort. I don't know about the range, but it worked OK at about 50ft through leaded light windows. The receiver's got a blue led that flashes when the shutter is operated.

The postage almost doubles the cost, but it's still worth it! The delivery from Hong Kong was also quite quick.
