Plain answer is that YouTube is much bigger than Vimeo - many more people will see the video on YouTube.

It doesn't help Vimeo's cause that their free account limits uploads to 500MB (the video I created is 617MB).

YouTube fulfils all the key requirements I have and I can't justifying paying for Vimeo as long as YouTube is free. In fact YouTube can earn a small commission for us.

Yes, Vimeo may have a playback quality advantage over YouTube, but I do see smooth content on YouTube so it may simply be that my editing skills need to be refined rather than switching to Vimeo.
