I am thinking of buying a new memory card (4GB) i would like one around the x300 speed, Asda are selling one that writes at 30mbs a sec and reads at the same speed, but i don't know how to convert that to speed? as in x300? or x133? anyone know of a table of a way of calculating it?.
I have seen the one on 7day shop for 13.49 http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13292 any help ?
The number quoted (say 300) - as opposed to the actual speed (say 30MB/s) is actually simply a multiplier. It goes back to the old days of CDRoms where they initially could only transfer data at 150kB/s. So a card which states 300 actually runs at 300 X 150k(or 0.15M) = 45MB/s.

So :

133 = 20MB/s roughly speaking
200 = 30MB/s
233 = 35MB/s
300 = 45MB/s
