You didn't mention the lens but I looked at the EXIF data and see you were using the 300mmf/4 + 1.4xTC. This explains the very shallow depth of field.



Your processing shows excessive sharpening and, to my taste, is very overdone but the horrible bokeh suggests to me that you might be using a poor quality filter. Do you have a filter on the lens and what is it?


I suggest this because when I first used my Nikon 300mm f/4, I put a cheap filter on it and got horrible results. I describe the problem on my website at http://home.btconnect.com/mike.flemming/filters.htm
