I think the comment was to the effect that, in fact, 43mm is closer to the normal view of the human eye, rather than 50mm.

It's an imprecise comparison due to us (most of us) having stereoscopic vision, plus eye movement, plus processing by the brain. But the physics is such that a 43mm lens (on full frame) is "the same" as the human eye.
