Funny you should raise this today - I was in my home office doing a lot of filing and only filed my letter to Olly Oz this afternoon.

That was me that 'stuffed' the gears by mishandling and did it twice. Once under warranty and once out of warranty. Olly in Oz fixed it both times for free. I have now learned how to remove the lens hood without working the gears - i.e. push onto the lens cover while removing the hood.

Had the 70-300mm out todya - see my roo pic elsewhere. I sometimes find that it will hunt for focus when it can't get a clear image of the target. What I do is to drop back to 100mm - AF - then zoom in to 300mm and AF again. Alwys eliminates the hunting.
