Re: Clearing RAM app.............

Don't forget good old Task Manager (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Task_Manager_(Windows)), it can show you what's running and which resources are being used. Quick launch by right-clicking the task...

Re: It's a strange world

I have a simple answer to that. I don't go to B&Q! The nearest one's over an hour away and the local builder's merchants generally have what I want at a considerably lower price!

Re: Age-Related Difficulties

When I worked for a GEC company in the 70s they used a similar system of budgeting so it's not only government departments. Having said that of course GEC didn't last much longer so maybe their...

Re: Age-Related Difficulties

"Common sense" is an oxymoron, like "fun run" or "military intelligence" :).

Re: Walking boots

I use a different route :).

Back on topic, I have used Brasher boots since they were first launched. Originally they were made by K Shoes in Kendal but subsequent pairs were made in Spain and...

Re: MyOlympus updated terms of use

Yep, it's just companies covering their backsides. The Ts and Cs for my iPhone run to 94 pages! And no, I haven't read them :).

Re: MyOlympus updated terms of use

Thanks Jax, I knew I'd regret looking at them! Ts & Cs are the bane of modern life :(.

MyOlympus updated terms of use

I just received an e-mail asking me to read and agree to updated terms of use and privacy agreements from MyOlympus. I've logged in and attempted to read both but they open in a pop-up window with no...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

Yes, when in forward motion the red light should be on the port (left) side and green on the starboard (right) side :).

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

No, they were famous for their misprunts at one time, hence the nickname, but modern technologies seem to have fixed that. However, recently they ran a story about public transport in Manchester,...

It was a general observation Tim, not directed at you specifically.

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

If you type Aluminum into Wikipedia it instantly directs you to Aluminium without asking. Much the same as typing Grauniad.co.uk into a browser - you get The Guardian ;).

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

I've just had another look and as if by magic there's now a "Today's Posts" button at the top of the forums page! I'm sure it wasn't there last time I looked. Anyway thanks Mik :)

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

I just had a look at FTU again; I like the clean modern design although one issue it took me a while to find when I first looked in is the tool bar above the header, where the "Log in",...

Re: W10 Update Slowed PS CS6 Launch

+1 to Andy. Also, there is a "Fast Startup" option which is best turned off. I find my video driver doesn't always work properly if this is enabled.

Go to Settings > Power and Sleep and scroll...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

Mental health problems in the farming community are becoming well known so I'm not sure it's any better in rural communities (like this one) than urban. I do know that my GP is seeing more and more...

Re: Tax Free Purchases from the EU?

Thanks Bill. I don't smoke so there's no danger of me having a lighter with me! I gather DEET is nasty stuff in many respects. We've been recommended to take some though.
Many years ago I bought...

Re: Tax Free Purchases from the EU?

The rules will likely be the same as they are for the rest of the world now i.e. anything worth more than £28 (iirc) may attract duty and VAT. If you take kit bought in the UK out of the country be...

Re: A worrying development

I remember those Sonys, yes. I imagine Apple's removal of memory card slots is so they can make money from people having to use iCloud instead. Cynic, moi? :).

Yes, the early viruses propagated via floppy discs, an SD card is only an updated device serving the same purpose!

Re: When i was a child

Speaking as a reasonably fit 67yo I'm quite glad I didn't die at 65. However I agree about ending my days dribbling in a care home, if I get to that stage I'll start researching euthanasia!

There...
