Re: 300mmm F4 rear cover part falling off!

Yes - looking at the pro lenses I have, the metal ones do seem to have this same design of rear cover. I have not heard of them falling off before on here or other forums so hopefully this is not a...

Re: 300mmm F4 rear cover part falling off!

Update: It took about 3 weeks to get the lens repaired and returned. They fixed it with a new back cover and the notes say my lens was checked and cleaned. It has a new serial number as it was the...

The Moon - 300mmF4 + MC-20

Trying out the Moon with the 300mm F4 + MC-20. 1/200 F8 @ ISO 200, tripod. Some cropping, levels and sharpening in C1Pro. I tried higher ISOs and shutter speeds but this seemed to work the best.

Re: Olympus 40 - 150 Pro Lens Hood just fell apart

I'm getting the feeling a lot of this Olympus Pro stuff might be held together with silicone glue after my 300 F4 fell apart. The Olympus original glue certainly doesn't seem to have the Tarzan grip!

Re: Daft question

Interesting on zero seconds anti shock I've never thought to try that. I usually use at least 4 seconds anti shock when doing moon shots on a tripod to allow any movement to settle down when firing....

Re: Focus point indication during playback

Thanks, I didn't know about these timings. I will give it a try the other way.

I ended up with -2 after experimentation on small birds like warblers flying around in reedbeds and found it "more...

Re: Partial lunar eclipse...

Having a go. Warm night, so lots of heat shimmer making it hard to get critical focus. Full moon never shows great detail, even eclipsed.

300mm F4 with MC-14. A bit of processing and cropping in...

300mmm F4 rear cover part falling off!

Something to watch out for.

I had some trouble mounting the 300mm F4 IS Pro after swapping out the teleconverter. While juggling camera, lens and teleconverter I couldn't find the orange mount...

Re: Focus point indication during playback

I get this on some of my C-AF sequences of bird flight shots. I assumed it was because the camera did not get focus on any points on some of the shots even if it started with focus. My C-AF release...

Re: Firmware 3.1 out

Great news - I've been plagued by the EVF bug in 3.0 today. Turn the camera on and the image in the EVF is black with just status info like you have a lens cap on! It happened with the EVF set to...

This reminds me of some odd artefacts I had with the bare 300mm F4 on some photos of a Bullfinch some months ago. It was in the out of focus background. It seems to be some lines...

Re: So, is the AF better with firmware 3?

Great Barn Owl shots Ron!

I think the C-AF is improved a lot especially with the C-AF Centre Priority and C-AF Centre start options. I've turn both of these on and now use either the new 5x5 focus...
