Re: When i was a child

Kids had scurvy and rickets, many people didn't make it to 65, etc.

Sadly, this is still true in many parts of the world, but - as far as the UK is concerned - you can keep the good old days...

Re: Third party batteries for the EM1ii (and EM1X)

I've used ExPro for my earlier cameras and they always seemed to be slightly lower capacity than the Olympus, but I'm reasonably happy with them. One started to expand, but the others have been fine....

Re: Third party batteries for the EM1ii (and EM1X)

Ah... I was just about to report that I couldn't find the Platinum version.

** UPDATE ** They have the platinum version on Amazon.de, but they're running out fast. 58.35 for two, including...

Arrow Re: Windows 10 raw file preview

I originally upgraded not too long after Win10 was released but it was so awful I rolled back within an hour. The roll back wasn't perfect and it took me a few hours to fix everything.

Because of...

Windows 10 raw file preview

Before I recently upgraded to Windows 10 (as Windows 7 is going out of service in January), I had a plugin codec that allowed Windows Explorer to preview my raw files.

This stopped working after...

Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

As it happens, the link you've posted shows that the OM-D E-M10MkIII was added in 6.13 but I wasn't going to Google that for you. Just wanted to make you aware that 6.13 wasn't the last perpetual...

Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

I've been tempted by On1, but have resisted.

I don't like the way they force you to use .xmp files, which I don't use, and there's also some discussion about them not providing a backup process...

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

I also had the Acorn system 1... and my younger brother then bought a single board computer with a keyboard soldered onto the 'motherboard' running Basic. We both preferred assembly code and spent...

Re: Blur feature in Lightroom

You could always use the spot removal tool to overpaint with something else, or an adjustment brush to adjust, say, the exposure of the area.

Re: AC-5 power supply for HLD-9 grip

The part I specified in my write-up is no longer on Amazon. ExPro offer a similar part (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro%C2%AE-Replacement-Nikon-part-EH-4/dp/B0051GLXUO/) that is claimed to be 5A. It...

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

It's just a standard USB-C lead - easy to buy and you may have one if you have a recent phone.

One of the best things about the MkII was the move to standard connectors for USB, video and remote.

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

I discovered this today, too.

I'm not sure why Olympus have done this... I quite liked having S-AF and S-AF+MF accessible quickly from the AF setting menu via a single button press rather than...

Re: New firmware finally imminent?

I'd quite like to see better options for multiple exposure in camera... ie more than 2 frames and a bigger choice of blending modes. I doubt it will happen though.

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

If you find IS useful, it's worth getting the Panny lens for the GX800 as the body has no IS, whereas the lens does. The 14-42 Oly lens doesn't have IS so you'd be back in the good old days before IS...

Re: Adobe LR - no more updates - options?

Of course, but if you decide to stop paying the subscription then you'd have made the decision to move to a new software package for editing.

The important thing is that you don't lose access to...
