Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

Yes, exactly Jim (and Richard)!

I put this image on another forum a few months back but nobody there could work it out. :)

I should add; there are strict rules about the positioning of all...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

I used to write regularly for one of IPC's yachting magazines. The editorial team were very good at proof reading in those days so typos and poor grammar rarely got to the printed page, but the...

Re: Photography in Public Places

The real issue here is "providing information recklessly and without knowledge of the truth" (knowing that another party will make a decision based on that information).

I am not sure whether this...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

So do you believe that living your entire life through a small, hand held device and never speaking to another human being is 'progress'?

Or for that matter allowing huge American outfits to...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

Peter, I apologise for not making myself clearer. When I said you were wrong about Amazon I meant you were not the only one who boycotts them! :)

Re: Photography in Public Places

The use of motor vehicles is indeed very heavily regulated, but that doesn't stop law abiding drivers from being seen as public enemy number one for doing something that is still perfectly legal, and...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

The economics of running small, local businesses are such that the majority will fail if they haven't already done so. Most local pubs are small cogs in massive multi-national business, and the bean...

Re: An expensive “Hobby”

Did you work for the Royal Arsenal Graham.

I used to visit the labs at Woolwich fairly regularly back in the 1970's. *yes

You'll need a bigger calibre to sort out our present shambles, if you know what I mean. *yes

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

Yes; I think farming is a particularly stressful vocation for many, especially those running smaller cattle farms, although the ubiquitous oil seed rape seems to fund no end of large houses, Range...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

We hear a lot about mental health issues these days. Deprivation aside, I wonder how this is affected by where people live. Do people living in towns and cities suffer more than those who live in the...

Re: A dog is for life, not just for Brexit.

I would say that politicians of any colour could do a lot worse than going for a long walk with the dog across the moors and the mountains, well away from mobile phone coverage, where they can think...

Re: Photography in Public Places

I a slightly puzzled as to why anybody who evidently thinks that carrying or using a camera is socially unacceptable should be on a photography forum in the first place?

For what its...

Re: Photography in Public Places

So then please answer my first question?

Are you suggesting that the sale of cameras and motor vehicles should be banned outright to protect 'vulnerable' individuals? That would certainly avoid...

Re: Photography in Public Places

So where exactly would you say it is safe and socially acceptable to use a camera?

You seem to be suggesting that an innocent photographer carrying (and not necessarily using) a camera...

Re: In praise of...............

Yes; but the problem is that Specsavers don't advertise the fact that their hearing aids cost £3,000 or that a pair of varifocals cost £300 or so.

They lure customers in with the promise of low...

Re: In praise of...............

Yes; Specsavers is a franchise, and a very slippery slops of spending in my experience.
