Re: Can you manually stop down a lens?

It does, but only the Panasonic u43 'reads' the lens aperture setting on the lens. With Olympus u43, aperture needs to be selected using one of the twiddly dials in A or M, the lens aperture setting...

Re: Can you manually stop down a lens?

Or a cheaper option would be the 7.5mm Samyang. It's a cracking little manual lens.

Re: Can you manually stop down a lens?

I don't think so. However the Panasonic LEICA DG SUMMILUX Lens H-X015E has a manual control, so that may provide fixed aperture.

Olympus raw codecs that work with Win 10

A fellow camera club member has just pointed me to these codecs that work with Olympus raws (from the OMD E-M1 and M5ii at least) in Windows 10. Seems good value at US$9.99 currently, and there's a...

Re: Bird ID please

Defiinitely a female GSW (the male has a red patch at the back of the head).

As Jim says the LSW is tiny and quite scarce (known to birders like me as the Never Spotted Woodpecker )...

Re: Bird ID please

GSW!

The LSW is very small - about the size of a sparrow. They're also quite rare.

40-150mm Pro Decoration Ring

Hello.
Just seen that WEX are doing the Olympus DR-66 decoration ring for the 40-150mm Pro lens at a decent price. It's simply a plastic ring that protects the tripod mount locating lugs on the...

Re: USB connector type?

The discussion on this thread suggests it's possible to fit the release with the bracket in place:

Re: USB connector type?

To be a bit pedantic, the 12-pin Olympus connector is not a USB connector - it is a proprietary to Olympus.... they just happen to have designed their "USB" cables to use that connector at the camera...

I think you may have a big problem finding one.

This is a source of the plug by they sell them by the 1000.

Re: Which one ? 8mm or 7-14mm

The 8mm Fisheye is a "full frame" fisheye which produces an image circle larger than the sensor to give a rectangular, but distorted image. The diagonal angle of view is 180 degrees. "Circular"...

Re: Which one ? 8mm or 7-14mm

A fisheye should give 180 degree angle of view and indeed the Olympus one does. I have not seen any examples but that could be 180 on the diagonal so you get a rectangular image or it could be 180...

Re: Which one ? 8mm or 7-14mm

I'd be surprised if the AOV of the 8 isn't wider than the 7-14. Also, f1.8 gathers about three times the light of f2.8. It your into astrophotography, that matters a lot.
