Re: New territory for me - E-M1 shutter stuck!

Quite right and I should have said the same. I haven't yet tried anything but the closest to a compressed air can I'll use is something like a squeezable 'hurricane' blower with the brush removed.

Re: New territory for me - E-M1 shutter stuck!

After more experimentation, it does seem that the shutter sticking is intermittent.

A can shoot a continuous sequence successfully until the last frame, which records normally but the shutter...

Re: New territory for me - E-M1 shutter stuck!

This morning the shutter had unstuck itself. However, it does stick again. The gentle tap suggestion works, too.

I also tried different shutter speeds and those only above the X sync speed, when...

New territory for me - E-M1 shutter stuck!

I've had dozens of Olympus DSLRs and mirrorless cameras and this is the very first time I have experienced a stuck shutter.

Yesterday, Julia told me she would like to brush-up on her photography,...

Re: 17th/18th August hosting Co. maintenance

All went quite well at around 6:30 this morning and the site was down for less than 5 minutes according to the logs.

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

Touch wood (busily scratches his head), no nastiness on the server for two days now and looking at the logs from the last week the server disruption trend has definitely been broken :)

We must be...

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

We're focusing on different ways of managing bots (like search engine spiders).

At the same time we've been making the server more efficient at dealing with high loads.

We can't rule out a...

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

Ha!

So far so good.

To be fair, the changes we made on Wednesday may well have required 48 hours to take effect, so yesterday's event may not have been avoidable. But I need to see several days...

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

We have been making changes to the server configuration every day this week and the regular daily spike at around 8AM causing gateway time outs has been less regular and less intense.

This morning...

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

Frustratingly, we had another server event this morning. The only good news was that the glitch only lasted 5 minutes and the excessive server load was only half what it has been during such events...

Re: I'm working on this site's sibling...

Hmmm - there has been a relatively small spike just now that caused a problem for around a minute - a lot less than before but still needs looking at :(
