Re: How to upload photos to this site

I tried again, using the "for TV or tablet" export function from DXO Photolab. Still too large. There must be a way of specifying the required size but I can't find it. I'm giving up until the new...

Re: Photography in Public Places

Ah - I edited my post to be a little less patronising but you quoted me before I did so.

Yes - the thread was originally about public places, I agree on that. But we meandered on to private...

Hi. Has anyone heard of a 12-40 lens making a quite audible blowing, puffy, airy noise during autofocus? The sound goes away when in MF mode, and also seems to manifest on some bodies but not others....

Re: Parton rocks mono

Is it bad that when I read your title I thought "rocks" might be a verb and Parton referring to a singer of that name?

Re: Photography in Public Places

I think your comments are about public places. In private places, the owner can set their own rules about who is welcome and who isn't, and what behaviours are unacceptable. If a visitor becomes no...

Re: A worrying development

Surely a virus can only spread from a card to a camera if there is some software in the camera's operating system to read and load programs from the card. But I'd imagine that the software in the...

How to upload photos to this site

Is there an Idiot's Guide somewhere on how to get photos onto this site? I've managed it in the past a time or two, as I entered one of the monthly competitions, and I also have a couple of albums,...

Re: Photography in Public Places

Actually things seem to be moving against photographers' rights in this country, based on at least two trends.

Firstly a more recent update than some of the guidance that has been posted above is...

Re: A few Hours in London

Wonderful. You got some great viewpoints and compositions. (You also had some high viewpoints for some). I find the first and last ones particularly appealing.

Re: panasonic lenses

The Panasonic Lumix and Panasonic Leica lenses generally work well, and functions like manual focusing using the ring work well (even though nowadays this is generally implemented as "focus by wire"...

Re: Someone got a good deal!

Re: Sigma 150mm Macro Lens 4/3 fit.

I agree. Mine is superb for image quality, whether used as macro or as general purpose telephoto. Works well with EC-14 too, and even EC-20. AF isn't the quickest (not an issue for macro as most...
