In PC mode, first wrench, is it set to storage or control? It's been awhile sense I've updated my firmware but I think it needs to be on storage. I can't remember, damn old timers disease.

Mine was the same way. I used a silicone spray, the food grade stuff, spray some on a rag, not the lens, then wipe a light film on the barrel, let it dry. It made a big difference. My 2. *yes

Garrie, what settings did you use on both cameras? On my monitor the E-3 looks sharper, but the E-1 definitely has better color. *yes

My 50mm f1.8 does the same thing. I have read on other forums that this is just the nature of the lens. Seems weird that the more you stop it down the brighter the picture gets. Go figure. *yes
