Re: A bit of a rant regarding Olympus Service.....

I can't remember exactly, but it was in the region of $350 which, considering the new lens replacement cost of about $1300, I was prepared to pay.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

WEX are advertising 20% off all memory cards until the end of the month. That brings the Lexar 32GB 2000x Professional UHS-II SDHC down to about 64, which sounds quite good to me.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I remember when a 1GB CF card cost around 300GBP . Probably best to wait a while, unless you are experiencing real frustration, since prices will probably fall as these high speeds become...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I used Pro capture to get shots of a hammer striking an object, as described above I feathered the shutter and pressed it down when I heard the hammer strike the object. I got pictures of the hammer...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

Here is a simple example using ProCapture. A bird is on a branch and it is going to take off without warning. In this case a Kingfisher waiting for a fish.
Aim at bird, half press shutter, then when...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I recently tried it with lightning strikes with some success. While holding the shutter button at half way periodically in the direction of the strikes, as soon as the strike occurs I fully pressed...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I got mine (32GB) as a bonus from Olympus last year when I bought the E-M1 Mk II & I agree, it is worthwhile while using Pro Capture or else there is a longer delay (with 95MB/s) while all those...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I use the SanDisk 300MB/s cards. Well worth it. A few days ago I took 1000 shots of diving birds using ProCapture. But if you only take single photos your old ones are fine.
(You also need the fast...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

As said it kinda depends on what you are doing with the camera.

Sequential photos are stacked in the camera buffer. But you can't use the camera until they are written to the card. If you are...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I use 633 cards which I think are fast enough never had a buffer problem. The one problem is sorting through so many similar shots looking for the best? one.

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

I only use 95 mbs cards in my E-M1 mk2 and have never encountered any problems but I rarely take more than 2-3 frames at a time with sequential shooting. I find it incredibly boring to sift through...

Re: EM1 mk2 sd cards

Only if you REALLY need their high speed! So for fast drive speeds, and long continuous shots they will be a great help (and especially for ProCapture mode). But if you are taking single shots and...

Re: EM-1 and 4/3 glass first try very dissapointed.

definitely use at least the centre group, maybe all points, on a scene such as that with a 43 lens IMO

good light (contrasty so it's not that good, but you know what I mean!) also makes a huge...

Need to add very quickly having done a search that everything I am finding suggests that users should NOT clean the sensor themselves.

We really do need to confirm if this is true and why.

I clean or should I say used to clean my D3X sensor after every use. The D3S on a regular basis.

But the EM5 never needed cleaning!

I cannot imagine it would be that difficult, but yes, I agree...

I agree with Peter. It is the Black-shouldered Kite, previously called Elanus notatus.
I am tipping not a very old bird as yours still has a lot of dark colour under the wing which they tend to lose...

Re: What a Difference a Clean Makes !

John,

Have you considered downloading Adobe's DNG converter?

This will convert the E-M1 raw files to DNG which you can then open within CS5 raw, I've tried it and it appears to do a good job.

Hi John,

Sorry for not replying sooner, I've just spotted your post.

I don't believe I'm doing anything special settings wise, just single af with small focus point, like you I'm using an MMF1....
