Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

Unfortunately modern Liberals cannot accept that others may hold different views to their own.

To quote a Prime Minister from better times:

“Freedom will destroy itself if it is not exercised...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

It is actually liberalism gone horribly wrong.

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

Unfortunately they have the politically correct, dewy eyed liberals and other assorted do-gooders on their side claiming that they are an oppressed minority. Maybe if they obeyed the law, paid taxes...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

If you have no tax, insurance MOT or licence to worry about then you can ignore the cameras. Its not as if there are any traffic police around to pull you over.

On the other hand, they...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

I haven't' seen a proper Traffic Cop for a while. Most of them were replaced by cameras and 'Highways Officers' who are not police.

It might have something to do with the appalling behaviour on...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

Not many. Most but not all were decommissioned by David Cameron's government shortly after coming to power. They were very expensive to run apparently (the camera bit cost £20,000 + and could only...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

Wasn't it Clarkson who said 'anywhere in he world, the sound of an approaching flat four engine heralds the arrival of a complete and utter moron' :D

Re: Calibrating monitor(s)

Ah yes, they are good. I was just wondering how it was as a monitor at 35 - 40% brightness? I always have mine at 70 - 80%.

Re: Calibrating monitor(s)

I can understand that, but how is it as a monitor?

Re: Calibrating monitor(s)

Do bear in mind that any colour calibration will almost certainly reduce screen brightness. This should not a problem for newer, brighter monitors, but if you have maximum brightness set than colour...

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

This isn't new but is well worth flagging up.

One of the most common is 'de-badging' a car because it is seen as an invitation to others to race.

I doubt that most insurers would be bothered...

Re: Age-Related Difficulties

Yes; grapefruit contains an enzyme which prevents digestion of the medicine, thereby increasing the quantity in the gut. Its a bit like taking an overdose.

Re: Age-Related Difficulties

I would be devastated by that!

What was the medication BTW?

I know there are problems if grapefruit or cranberry juice are taken with Amlodipine. Amlodipine also causes...

Re: What broadband speed do you need?

Yes indeed; but FTTP requires a powered modem box in the premises, without which the phone won't work. It is all a bit like VOIP really, which most of us now use without even knowing it.

Re: What broadband speed do you need?

That small green box is not the Exchange, but the Cabinet, as in 'Fibre to the Cabinet'. The Exchange will be a bigger building, possibly some distance away.

The idea is that high speed fibre...

Re: Plague on the planet

The Class 55 Deltics were built for high speed passenger service on the East Coast Main Line. Only 23 were built so I don't think they strayed any further afield for purely operational reasons.

Re: Plague on the planet

According to Wiki, as of 2018 there were twenty-four Class 37 locomotives operation on the network with a further ten or eleven stored. Virgin Trains owns one of them for occasional use. There will...

Re: Plague on the planet

I have no problem with diesel trains Richard as long as they are not multiple units.

I have a particular fondness for Class 47 and Class 43, even though the latter is strictly a DMU rather than...

Re: Plague on the planet

The definition of 'Public Transport' is very simply that it is not private transport and is open to any member of the public who buys a ticket.

In addition to buses, trams and trains, aeroplanes...

Yes Keith, but when you get there you need to find somewhere to park, which often costs more than the bus fare, and then walk through the same rain to the town centre which is often some distance...

Re: Plague on the planet

Buses will never cover costs whilst fare paying passengers refuse to use them. Cost and convenience is part of the problem but for some people there is an image problem too.

We somehow need to...

Re: Plague on the planet

The Beeching cuts in 1963 were no accident. Earnest Marples, the Transport Minister at the time made his fortune from road building (the Marples Ridgeway company), so the last thing he wanted was a...
