Re: A Trolley for Camera Bags at Outdooor Locations

A birding friend uses an Andersen shopping trolley to carry his kit with large tele lenses. These are available with pneumatic wheels for rough ground or even towed behind a bicycle. See...

Re: Olympus Air A01

I find that photos which don't look 'sunny' can be improved by increasing the yellow saturation only. This avoids over-saturating other colours.

Re: Un-Distorting Edges of Wide Angle Images

I'm surprised that the article in the link states that there's no Photoshop filter to do this.

I frequently use the Filter | Distort | Spherize - Horizontal Only menu to do exactly this! A...

Re: Olympus Air A01

I find that no one profile suits all. A lot depends on the subject and I usually find I have to do some tweaking to make the image match my perception of the original scene. One advantage of...

Re: Hello from Angelica

I look forward to seeing your posts. I spent 6 weeks touring NZ a couple of years ago and was 'blown away' by the scenery and the huge variety packed into such a small space. Be great to see a...

Re: Window 10

On my Thinkpad, press PrtSc to copy the screen to the clipboard and Alt+PrtSc to copy just the active window. It seems that every machine is different ...why? I sometimes think that software...

Re: Four Thirs to MFT adapter - not made by Olympus or Panasonic

My apologies for having mis-interpreted your post. The Olympus 11-22 is noted for its lack of distortion, so I'm puzzled to understand how a simple tube can introduce such a result, unless the faces...

Re: Four Thirs to MFT adapter - not made by Olympus or Panasonic

Viltrox JY-43F only 29.99 at Amazon UK.

I assume that this was one of their converters that include lens elements, not the plain 4/3 to MFT.

Re: E-M1(ii) silver edition or Mk3?

My back-up is an E-M5 (silver) It's a lot smaller than my E-M1 but does have the weather sealing, which I value 'in the field'. It survived tropical rainforest in Borneo with no problems. The body...

Re: Another Orchid - "Dockrillia striolata"

I think that the last British Ghost (Epipogium aphyllum) was seen in Herefordshire in 2009, the previous sighting having been in 1982. There are sites in Switzerland where this species is...

Re: Another Orchid - "Dockrillia striolata"

Like you, I have photographed most of the Native British Orchids, except for some Northern and island species - see http://home.btconnect.com/mike.flemming/orchidshome.htm.
There is a problem in...

Re: Another Orchid - "Dockrillia striolata"

Many thanks for your clarification. I use stacking frequently for my flower photos and find it very effective - worth a try, in my opinion, especially since you have all the relevant kit.

The...

Re: Another Orchid - "Dockrillia striolata"

Nice orchid photos, I take a lot of miniature orchids and find they make fascinating subjects. I'm not sure what you mean by adding [C1-C12] after the file numbers. Are these stacked?. If so, I'm...

Re: Could do with some guidance.

If you want to continue to use four-thirds, rather than micro 4/3 lenses, then you need a body with phase-detect AF, which currently means E-M1 Mk.i or ii. It is rumoured that the forthcoming E-M5...

40-150 f/5.6 Don't underestimate it

I know it's sometimes referred to as a 'plastic fantastic' but the compact and very lightweight 40-150 is a brilliant travel lens. I have no complaints about this shot taken at full aperture (f/5.6)...

Re: Clearing RAM app.............

In most versions of Photoshop there is a 'clear' command in the 'Edit' menu (called 'purge' in earlier versions). This will clear back history, clipboard, and other memory 'debris'. No need for...

Re: Focus Stacking

The 'focus differential' in the stacking menu relates to the depth of field for the lens setting in use. The individual focus steps are 1X, 2X, 3X etc of the depth of field calculated by the camera....

Version 3 Stacking improvement

V3 firmware brought an increase from 8 to 15 exposures when using in-camera focus stacking. I found this enhancement very useful when photographing a very 3-dimensional Toad Lily (Tricyrtis) flower....

Re: Communal Night-Sky Photography Thread

Saturn is looking good in the Southern sky at present. It's nice to be able to take astro photos in reasonable warmth!
