Re: Hi Res

The sensor moves by 1/2 pixel increments. A solid tripod is a prerequisite for high-res, though I think I saw something about the new X being able to do high-res hand held. Believe it when I see it.

Re: Hi Res

High-res sample definitely much better.
I have had sensational results with it, though I haven't used it much. I even did a focus stack of high-res shots of some dead bug. Lot of work, but mind...

Re: Firmware Update

I skipped it. Don't own that lens either. I am sure its features will be in the next update that might apply to us.

Re: Firmware Update

No, I think the real "problem" is in "sharing" pixels. Can't make them bigger without loosing image information. They already did that by adding phase detect AF to the E-M1 and lost about 6% of the...

Re: Firmware Update

Well, actually there is when you consider how tiny the AF pixels are on the Oly compared to the monstrous pixels on a dedicated AS sensor. I doubt that on chip phase detect AF will ever catch up to...

No chance without the Lensmaster! *chr

Those are really good! Just getting it in the frame is a real feat with that much glass on the camera!

Re: Space Station

Hey Rob,
You beat me to it! I have been waiting for a clear night to try out the 300/4 + MC-14 on Polaris and on the ISS.... problem is, around here you don't get many clear nights.
You should...

Re: Wire remote shutter release

Also have a fleabay cheapie RS-60E3 and it works on my Mark II flawlessly. I still prefer the Oly app though, even though it is a bit of a bother. Use on stars/moon all the time. Just set up the shot...

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

On top of that, we have to keep in mind that with distance comes air, and air is EVIL! AF systems hate it, and the more there is between us and our subjects, the more they complain.;)

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

Naturally with 300mm you will be able to be more selective.
That all said, it is strange that you had no issues with the hired lens. However, lighting conditions and subject mater play a HUGE role...

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

It is important to realize that that could have nothing to do with front/back focusing. The AF sensors are out for contrast edges, and they are more abundant in feathers than around the eye. The only...

Re: Focus Peaking

One of the great things about the new C1-C3 sets is that they can be tweaked according to specific needs and circumstances and the changes can be saved without changing any other settings in the...

Re: Focus Peaking

Keith,
That is one of the joys of the Olympus system, especially on the Mark II. It is amazing how much and how exactly you can configure the camera to your own personal needs. You might have a look...

I just have peaking assigned to a button, (doesn't mater which one), and I can turn it on an off at will.

Re: BIF using CAF with Canon 400/5.6 and metabones

Were those at Krankesjøn?
I have completely given up on C-AF. Tap tap short bursts work best for me. C-AF also slows the frame rate down too much.
Off Monday for three weeks at the North Sea. I...

Re: Battery charging in the field

Adjusting the charger to 8.2V (load-less) means it only charges the battery to about 96% before it turns itself off, so I set it back to 8.4V as before, but I will leave the current at 1050 mA. I...

Re: Battery charging in the field

You are right.
The actual voltage while charging is 8.24V. That is also what I get while the wall charger is charging. With no load it reads 8.4V. To be on the safe side, I have in fact reduced the...

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

Right. I still wonder though how the camera likes focusing on something at an angle rather than parallel to the focal pane.

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

Tord,
I am not sure that sort of chart is best for Oly cameras, even with cross type AF points. They don't react well to horizontal lines. So if you use that chart you can rotate the camera 45°, or...
