Abduction in progress

So, this is a picture of a picture of a picture.

The original two thousand five hundred year old wall painting is so delicate that the Greek antiquities department photographed it and display the...

Re: Greek trip, long and short

I had the 15mm and it didn't do a lot for me, but the (ahem) 9mm does have a function.
Beware the manual focus lever (oh, remember the Olympus XA2...). First of all it closes the lens flap and...

Greek trip, long and short

So, I got brave this last holiday and just took the Panasonic 14-140 lens, and the Oly 8mm fisheye lens cap thing. That's it. One serious lens.

I have to say the 10:1 zoom was nowhere near as bad...

Re: Greek Salad!

And here's a tourist shot.

The site of Delphi. As featured in St Paul's letter to the Delphiniums.

Re: Greek Salad!

We also visited some mountain top monasteries. They are just fantastic - if a bit over subscribed tourist wise. Here's a three shot pano at Meteora.

Greek Salad!

Context is all important in an image. I've always said that. "Take a picture of a cat on holiday and it's just a picture of a cat. Take a picture of a cat with the Acropolis in the background and...

Some south coast moments for you

Spotted on a cliff top walk, where the path has been moved inland several times already:

The seat at the End of the Universe.

Re: Uncommon walk details

No, they drifted away once the shouting was over. There's just a trading estate there now, and empty cruise missile hangers.

Re: Uncommon walk details

I once offered a lift to a man-hating lady from the peace camp.

Won't do that again :-)

Re: Uncommon walk details

There was a nice American gentleman acting as guide in the tower. He served at the base in the 80s and said how great it was.

I kept my views to myself. Particularly now that the USA is the only...

Hurst Castle moments

We finally girded our lions (more exciting than loins) and *walked* to Hurst Castle. That is a 2 mile forced march entirely over gravel while being blasted by wind. You know you have done it.

So...

Re: Snaarman's Garden Moments

We found a one day only open garden near Beaulieu - and that was house and garden on a totally different scale. I imagine they had 15 acres of partly planted woodland. Astonishing..

We like Exbury Gardens. Huge, with steam train.

There's a Water Park quite close to us here on the south coast. Hmm. Actually its a water feature...

Snaarman's Garden Moments

Still here. Still almost retired. We have had a "busy year" but now things are slowing down and we can get out a bit.

Nearby we found Apple Court Gardens near Everton (Lymington area). This is a...
