Re: Lowepro TLZ 20 ll

This is a great bag for carrying just a camera and a few bits and bobs. A 9 it won't break the bank.

Re: Lowepro TLZ 20 ll

I can't comment on the particular model but I invested in a Lowepro backpack and bumbag in 200. I have given both a lot of use and am delighted with them.

Re: EXIF viewer for iPad

I've now found a few more iPad apps that display EXIF and other metadata from Olympus RAW files.

1) Photometa is the most straightforward. You select a folder and it displays thumbnails of each...

Re: To buy or not

I'm not sure, but using my mk1 for street photography using touch screen focus and shoot with the lens at f1.7, I never missed a shot due to slow focussing speed, and using just the same technique...

From what I recall the mark II was just a cosmetic upgrade.

In addition to the forum being available with Tapatalk, I have found that Firefox on the iPad handles the forum better than Safari.

AP article

A 7-page article in the latest AP (Oct 31st issue) about "Ditching your DSLR" for CSC, written by Steve Gosling, Olympus photographer. It's basically a hymn of praise to the OM-D EM series, and why...

Re: Firmware advice

I think it will do 1.1 followed by 1.2
1.1 adds the 0seec Anti shock facility plus an improvement to IS for video.

1.2 gives improved AF precision when using the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO lens.

The...

Re: Firmware advice

I usually do any firmware updates as they are issued. If you don't do one because you think you don't need it and then down the line another is issued which you do need you will have to do all the...

Re: Firmware advice

I have never had any problems updating various bodies, but did learn to BE PATIENT! The process can sometimes appear to have stopped.

Re: E-P5 question

I never turn the IBIS off. I've never detected any negative impact from it. In fact, even when it's off, it still sort of on since the sensor has to be held still by the coils.

Re: E-P5 question

Yes, its the "Seven Dwarfs" who operate the IBIS cheerfuly humming as they push the sensor around in response to the operator shaking the camera.:D

At least that was the explanation someone gave...

Re: E-P5 question

I suspect it's the IBIS Gary. It makes slight hissing/whiring sound. Perfectly normal!!

Re: Lumix 20mm 1.7 on E-PL5

Paul's reference to slower AF with the Lumix 20mm was my experience (but not with the E-PL5 which I don't have). My lens (and I suspect Paul's) was the original version which had an all metal...

Re: Olympus 14-42

If you want a 14-42 EZ, I'm willing to sell my one.

My reasoning is the 9-18 + 25 + 45 covers what I want and works for me.

I also have a XZ-1 in my pocket to cover any real zoom needs and it's...

Re: Olympus 14-42

If you're thinking of the 14-42 EZ, take a look at the Panasonic 12-32 as well. It lacks the power zoom (to its credit!) and is smaller and lighter. IQ is perhaps slightly better and it goes wider,...

Re: Olympus 14-42

I have a 14-42 EZ and when I want to go light I use it on the E-M5 I love it.

The IQ is good and MF is great

Here is a handheld (one handed) shot taken with that combo at 1/6 sec the E-M1 was...

Re: Two weeks on

It's worth considering the Lumix 20mm if your budget reaches that far, it is a great lens and about the same size as the Only 17mm

Re: Hello

Yes it is the same in the E-PL5 (I'm one of those that have saved most of the manuals, just because I can). Page 73 in the E-PL5 manual describes it.

Re: Hello

Hi Gary

I don't have the E-PL5 however on the E-M1 and E-M5 there is a setting in the menu C where you can set IS priority, camera or lens. I think default is lens (provided the lens has IS).
