Re: If Sensor Size Doesn't Matter, Why Buy a Bigger One?

I went to an exhibition of Olivia Parker on Fri. She specialises in still life. Her work is of the highest technical quality and it spans over five decades. She spent a time in the 80s using large...

x = 2.44 L N

x = size of Airy...

Re: If Sensor Size Doesn't Matter, Why Buy a Bigger One?

There are really only two differences in theoretical terms:

- Larger sensors give shallower DoF for a given field of view. A 50mm lens on FF gives a similar field of view to 25mm on m43. Point...

Re: Pop Up Scam?

The basic Windows Defender is just fine. You don't need anything else. Also make sure that your firewall (usually on your router) is configured properly (default value unless you know what you're...

Re: Swallows - MC-20 and Firmware 3.0 Test.

For those interested, there's a review by Tesni Ward here:

There are some sample shots with the 40-150.

I'm personally not confident that it'll work...

Welcome. Nothing to fear in micro for thirds. Buy on old EM5 and give it a try. They can be found at very reasonable prices.

Re: Hi from sunny Bedfordshire

Tips for the Pen-F (and most Olympus M43 cameras):

- Upgrade to firmware 2.1. There were stability issues on some cameras with earlier releases. Latest is 3.1. 3.0 introduced some...

Re: v3 Firmware for mk2 - updates for mk2, m1x and lenses

Battery life is very little to do with the number of shots taken. It's primarily driven by how long the camera is turned on. I've shots thousands on some occasions and low hundreds on others.

Re: Is it only the British ?

No, it's not only the British - the Japanese are worse. This is an amusing excerpt from the Nixon/Sato talks in 1969:

Re: Panny 12-32mm, bargain at Bristol Cameras.

Re: Upgrade to weather sealed

Here's my take:

- There's virtually nothing between the E-M1 and E-M5ii in terms of IQ in normal circumstances, but for long exposures (30s or greater), the E-M1 is WORSE - you get terrible chroma...

Re: Sony RX100

I had one for a short while. Good IQ, but handling was atrocious. I think an LX100 would make a better option (if you can get one that focuses properly at longer distances). Either that or a...
