Re: Oslo: Light and shadow

I find back and white hard to do, but good ones (I'm not saying these are)are some of the most striking images you can get.

Oslo: Light and shadow

Some pictures from our visit earlier this year to Norway.

A temperature inversion layer made the islands in the fjord seem hazy and mysterious:

Our local Roe Deer

They live in the wood on the other side of the lane from our house, except when they eat my wife's flowers!

Re: Is anyone a secret Nikon V1 mk2 birder?

Brian

The second and third photos show the quality of this lens. Much better than the 30-110.

My wee shop has good folk in it. I hope they are not being given the run around by Nikon.

Re: Is anyone a secret Nikon V1 mk2 birder?

Brian

I agree that it looks very promising - at least in half decent light. I am grimly trying to support the little local guy, but over 3 months is a long time to wait for a lens that has benn...

Re: Is anyone a secret Nikon V1 mk2 birder?

Joining this conversation a bit late, but I made this jump as an experiment over a year ago when I bought a highly discounted V1 twin lens kit because everything I read said that it had capable CAF...

Re: With apologies to Microsoft

The weather was superb. I hadn't been that way for decades. I was amazed at how green everything was - the proximity to Ireland perhaps?

Re: Grungy Lorna

That first shot is a real belter. Fantastic. I don't use Perfect Effects much, but I can learn from what you are doing with it. Thanks.

Re: With apologies to Microsoft

Hi jdal

I have had a look at the uncropped original. I don't think that it is a contrail, just one of those long whispy high altitude clouds (don't know the name - sorry). But it does look like...

Re: With apologies to Microsoft

Sorry, I should have mentioned. It was shot with the E-M1, 12-40, ISO 200, f5.6 at 1/500s. Cropped to square and slight adjustment in C1 (the raw convertor I get on best with). Unless I am...

With apologies to Microsoft

Just getting round to sorting through some images from Easter. From a field near Bladnoch (before visiting the distillery ....):

Re: Indian Wedding

These are fantastic pictures. I've always loved the vibrancy and colour of India on my all too brief visits there. It's warming to see it over here as well. A great memory of what was obviously a...

Re: Back button focus with the 50-200

Mauro

I've got the BBF assigned to the Fn 1 button at the moment, but I am not sure that this is the most ergonomic option for me (better than the AEL button, though). I have some experimenting...

Back button focus with the 50-200

I am very much obliged to Tony who suggested using back button focus with the 50-200. First try this morning allowed me to capture this, which I would never have managed otherwise (from about 30m -...

Re: I may have lost my mind! :D

Hi Brian

I have been using the non SWD 50-200 quite a bit recently (fulmar pics in Foto Fair etc).

It's obviously a lot heavier than a 75-300, but on the other hand this arguably helps dampen...

Re: comparing the 75-300mk2 with panny 35-100 on the EM-1 when shooting House Martins

I think that is why I am using my old 50-200 more compared to my 75-300 II. At 3.5 at the long end it allows significantly more light in, which seems to help. On the other hand, it often needs a...

These are great. They really tell a story. I like your processing as well, which gives them a vintage colour look. Thanks for sharing these.

Re: Barn Swallow - first shots of the year

The swallows are back here as well, but I have never taken any shot as good as the ones you show here. My only swallows in flight pictures are of a tiny bird in the far distance. When they do stop...
