Re: E30 worthwhile step up ????

I've got north of 60k exposures on my E30. Great camera and hard to beat in terms of price/performance ratio. Extremely fast autofocus with the 12-60, which is an extremely good all-around lens....

Re: Somebody has a sense of humor...

Looks liked a closed gas/oil bore with proper guardrails to prevent someone driving over it. The apparent large distance is needed because trucks tend to keep moving, and that closure valve really...

Re: The weight of camera kit

I've done a lot of travelling, including long-way-around tour, and I'm now down to three kit types.

1) High-quality but heavy: Olympus E30, Own-User battery pack, Gigapan Pro robotic tripod head,...

Re: Pen Mini E-PM1 board opens!

...and shoot in 16:9 format, 1280 long side, to avoid resizing problems when compiling the movie. You don't need the higher resolutions if the final goal is a time-lapse, and it really increases the...

Re: HDR - Exposure range?

I do a fair amount of HDR using the Oleoneo Photo Engine. Using my E30, I run 5 exposures (-2, -1, 0. +1, +2) and from my EPL1 I run three exposures (-1,0, +1), using the autobracket function of both...

Re: Anybody tried out windows 8 pro yet

Only re-install was an automagic upgrade from Kaspersky, my anti-virus of choice, which took me from 2011 to 2013. Everything else: upgrade.

Re: Anybody tried out windows 8 pro yet

I went and upgraded from 7 Home to 8 Pro, upgrade went rather smoothly, and only one bit of software is being tedious about it (a defragger I rather liked but can live without). Start up times are...

Re: Lens decision dilemma

Hi -

My walk-around kit is the EPL1 with VF2, the Panny 14 f2.5, the Panny 45-200 and the Olympus 50 f2 with adapter. The 45-200 is, however, not very fast, but is extremely compact and can be a...

Re: Is the 12-60mm swd worth the Xtra?

One thing to consider with the 12-60 as well is the relatively close focusing. This has been a real life saver at times, and I tell everyone when the ask "Why 4/3" that this is the lens I've always...

Re: Next Olympus Model Named... :-)

I took another look: Olympus was the trademark owner, but the guy who has applied for the trademark ownership is an IP lawyer at Kenyon & Kenyon, who has over 1400 trademarks associated with...

Re: Best lens for portraiture??

Depends on your style as well. If you do close, intimate portraits, the 50 f2 is just awesome. If you prefer more environmental portraits, then the 12-60 is a gem, since you can capture an...

Re: E3 & 50-200

Coool. :-)

You don't see many vertical panoramas, but this is, in my humble opinion, an excellent choice for the subject matter. Using the ND was rather clever. :-)

Re: Speed or cores?

Hi-

I went to 6 cores recently (AMD) and it's great when your software supports it. I run the gigapan stitching software and it took over all 6 cores and maxed them to 100%: a stitch that once...
