Re: M.ZUIKO 75-300 mm 1:4.8-6.7 II Lens...alternative.

As above - for the money I don't think there currently is a better m4/3 option out there.

Re: OM-D EM-5 Up to scratch for youtubing?

I had an E-M5 and a GH2 a few years ago and in my opinion for video you will be much better off with an old Panasonic GH2. At the time of release the GH2 was cutting edge in terms of video...

Re: LX100 or GM5 Body

I had a GM5 - great compact engineering but I couldn't get along with it. Also the colours coming out of it didn't look right. Sold it in favour of an E-M10II and was/am much happier with that.

Re: Prime M43 Lens?

If you don't need f/1.2 or f/1.4, both the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 and the 25mm f/1.8 are pretty good

Re: E-M1 Mk1

Hi I have a "MegaGear Ever Ready Protective Fitted Leather Camera Case , Bag for For Olympus OM-D E-M1 with 12-40 Lens (Black)" that I can sell to you?

It looks like this and is in as-new...

Re: Researching The 75-300

For the money it's a great lens; I had the Panasonic 100-300 MkI in the past and the Olympus 75-300 definitely outperforms it.

The Panasonic 100-400 is better optically, but is also significantly...

Re: Olympus or Panasonic ... That is the question.

I've had the Panasonic 100 300 MkI and now have the Olympus 75 300 MkII. The Olympus 75 300 MkII is the better lens in my opinion and is more portable as well.

Re: So I keep seeing E-M1 mk 1s going cheap...

Surprised that people think the E-M5 MkI IQ is as good as or better than the E-M1 MkI. I've had the E-M5 MkI and now use the E-M1 MkI and the E-M10 MkII. Both of these seem to yield better IQ than...

Re: Time to say goodbye ?

You should be able to pick up a 2nd hand E-M1 MkI for around 350 now.

For another 200 you should then be able to pick up the Panasonic 14-45 and the Olympus 40-150 kit zooms. This would probably...

Re: Help with 60mm Macro please

- Turn the focus mode on the E-M5II to "MF"
- Twist the dial towards 1:1 and release
- You should see the indicator on the lens move towards 1:1 now
- Now move the camera front/back towards your...

Re: Panny 12-60 any thoughts?

No personal experience but this review suggests it's not that great:

The f/2.8-4 is reportedly the one to get if you want this zoom range.

Re: lenses on a budget

Some more budget lenses with very good performance for the money:

Panasonic 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH OIS
Panasonic 45-150mm f/4-5.6 ASPH OIS

Both around the 100 mark used.

The 45 f/1.8 is...

Re: Advice for a wedding guest- lens choice

I would bring the 25 1.7 because you'll get better shutter speeds / will be able to shoot at lower ISO indoors.

Additionally at f/1.7 you'll be able to blur the background which will not be easy...

Re: Pro 12-40mm bargain??

In fairness they also trade on eBay under the name e-infinity and have very good feedback on there. I think the store is legit and you would get the lens if you order from them; just be aware of the...

Re: Pro 12-40mm bargain??

Please note that you only get a "seller warranty" instead of an Olympus warranty if you buy this lens. In practice, this means the lens will need to go back to Hong Kong in case of any problems and...

Re: Best performance for video

The Panasonic GH4, GH4R and the GH5 are probably the most advanced video m4/3 bodies around.

Re: Bird photography problems

FWIW To get better IQ I would have tried to shoot the same scene with:

S-AF
f/5.6 (instead of shooting wide open)
ISO 800
In the same light that would have resulted in a shutter speed of 1/500...

Re: Bird photography problems

John - Chris mentioned earlier in the thread he is using the "Olympus 40-150mm lens with the 1.4x Teleconverter".

If this is the f/2.8 lens attaching the TC would result in f/4 max aperture,...

Re: Is it worthwhile repairing a 12-60 SWD lens?

Lots of people seem to be dumping their M.ZD 12-40 f/2.8 lenses (and E-M1 bodies) at pretty low prices at the moment. If I were you I'd try to save up for one of those given that there appears to be...

Re: Panasonic 20mm f1.7 vs Olympus 17mm f1.8

I've had both and my observations are the same as Paul's. Only thing I would add is that even though the Panasonic 20 f/1.7 was a bit sharper I still preferred the images coming out of the Olympus 17...
