Re: Hi Res

High-res sample definitely much better.
I have had sensational results with it, though I haven't used it much. I even did a focus stack of high-res shots of some dead bug. Lot of work, but mind...

Re: Firmware Update

I skipped it. Don't own that lens either. I am sure its features will be in the next update that might apply to us.

Re: Battery charging in the field

I just use a USB charger and a USB adapter for the car. It is not as fast as on the mains, but it works. Cost me $4 plus about $1.50 for a tiny digital DC voltmeter which I connected to the leads so...

Re: Metabones EF->mFT v2.8 update

C-AF is useless with the Metabones/Canon 400/5.6, with or without a TC. How it is on other Canon lenses I do not know, but my impression is it is simply asking too much.

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

One more point,
"With FT lenses, only PDAF is used. With mFT lenses, in S-AF both PDAF and CDAF are used, and with C-AF, again only PDAF."

and....

"One thing is clear, red is still evil!...

Re: AF Fine Adjustment on E-M1 Mk II

Ross,
To me the green leaves with yellow spots and yellow edges on them have more contrast than the red leaves and are perhaps more attractive to the AF system. Also, the AF is colorblind though red...

Re: Should I upgrade to E_M1 Mk II?

I use the Preview button to activate the focus limiters and the OTWB button (I always shoot raw so no need) to activate the focus field selection. Here is my setup (see also post #8)...

Re: Should I upgrade to E_M1 Mk II?

Precisely. As I almost always have the Canon 400 on the Mark II, I need my left hand to support the weight, and I have all the controls I need right under my right hand fingers so I can do anything I...

Re: Should I upgrade to E_M1 Mk II?

I love the new battery. It charges really quickly (contrary to how it "seems" ;-) ), and it goes for a long time. I shot a rehearsal and a concert of some young musicians my daughter works with, Mark...

Re: Hot pixel, dead pixel or what?

Hot pixels are a fact of life for any sensor. I have had them on my E-510, E-620, E-30 and my E-M1. I find the pixel mapping tool to be both effective and unobtrusive.

When I first encountered a...

Re: Thinking of going back to Canon for birds/wildlife!

I use a Canon 400/5.6 on my E-M1 (Metabones adapter) almost exclusively. C-AF you can forget, but S-AF is very accurate and quite fast.
Some samples here:...
