Re: New Top Gear - thoughts?

I might watch Series 2 now that Evans is not going to be on. I gave up on Clarkson et al some time ago and hate Evans so avoided Series 1.

Hopefully they get someone with a personality not...

Re: Sod's laws of the universe

In our house it goes like this.

One of us, usually me is busy and cannot find the left handed gromit extractor* no matter how hard I look. I've looked where I last used it, where I may have put it...

Re: Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye

Yes I own a Rokinon and the difference is merely in the badging. Aperture priority works a treat allowing you to vary EV as normal, but TTL metering means the image is usually correctly exposed. Set...

Re: Panasonic Leica 100-400mm F4-6.3

I'm saving already. I'd rather pinned my hopes on the Oly 300 f4 but at a lot less money the Pana 100-400 looks very tempting, as a wildlife photographer that extra reach is too tempting.

Re: Sharpness

I too prefer my LSF JPEGs to anything I can produce from RAW. I keep being told I should use RAW but seemingly lack the skills to actually get anything I'm happy with from RAW.

Re: Aust names

No that one's down to the French who had Bretagne (Brittany) and saw a resemblance between that region of France and the Island over La Manche (The English Channel). To be fair the coastlines of...

Re: General walkabout lens for Travel

While not 'bigged up' by the cognoscenti, the 12-50 is a cracking lens! I use it regularly on my EP% with EVF 3.

Re: Beaten to 20MP by Panasonic!

There's a Pixel war raging across the DSLR ranges and it looks like m4/3 is not exempt. Personally I'd settle for 12Mp with Phase detection focusing that worked better than the EM1. Rather like...

Re: Newbie photo storing advice please

I use Transcend Hard drives, one a 1Tb the other a 2TB, and a Samsung Story 1T'b drive. All of my photos go onto the 1Tb Transcend for editing, collating and so on then they are backed up onto the...

Re: 4/3 to m4/3 Adapters ?

They do work, as does the Walimex Pro version which is half the Olympus price.

Re: Pinch my nipples - now a discussion on acceptable boundaries

Having waded through this thread a couple of times, I'm more and more of the opinion that, while the joke was near the knuckle, there is no way that it should/could be censored. We see the extremists...

Re: Photos of children.

My Brother-in-law was challenged while photographing the pattern of waves in a large fountain by an irate father who thought he was taking shots of his daughter who was paddling in the water.

Re: Pinch my nipples

I'd like to register that I have no objection to the OP. It was very funny and I'd be really disappointed if it were redacted because of a couple of narrow-minded complaints. -

Re: Samyang 7.5mm F3.5 Fish-eye

Excellent specialist lens. Be careful to keep your fingers out of shot. my first attempts to use it on my EPL5 had the edge of a finger from my left hand showing in the bottom left of frame. On...

Re: Which promise(s) do you want to believe?

I only have one question.

IF all of this is possible, why aren't we doing it...

Re: In/Out Referendum

Sadly the fact that people don't understand the issues has no traction in elections or referenda.

The question, in the event of a referendum, that should be put to firms like Nissan, Honda and...

Re: Adder portraits

Nice technique and well done for not spooking the Adder! In my experience with British snakes you rarely see more than the rear half as they slide away, so great fieldcraft too. A stunning set!

Re: Same Bronzewing Pigeon - two lenses.

Certainly sharper than the 75-300, I find the 75-300 at between 250 and 280mm gives a much sharper image, perhaps comparable to the 4/3 lens.
