Re: Calibrating monitor(s)

I had a look at the DS Colour website and I must say they offer a wide selection of products, and their service sounds good. I presume that the profile is only available for the Fine Art giclee...

Re: Calibrating monitor(s)

My goto website for this sort of thing is Northlight Images, a mine of practical information. Have a look here: http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/category/articles-and-reviews/monitor-calibration/,...

Re: Window 10

With my Win8.1 laptop and Win7 desktop, I've always just pressed PrtSc, then opened Windows Paint and pressed Ctrl+V to copy the image from the clipboard. I expect everything will be different in...

Re: Aged Epson R2100 printer

Thanks Andy. I tried to edit it after I posted it, but of course this site doesn't allow it. Also, is there an optional prefix "For Free" rather than "For sale"? Not that that really matters.

Aged Epson R2100 printer - FREE offer

I'm clearing out some old photographic gear that I no longer use. In particular I need to find a home for my ancient Epson Stylus Photo R2100 printer, or else it'll end up on the tip. I'm just...

Re: Panasonic 100 - 400mm Leica DG Vario-Elmar: Telemacro & Stereo at 400mm

Super images there Harold. Amazingly shallow depth of field even at f/10! Then again, even at that aperture diffraction softening seems pretty minimal at this scale of reproduction.

Re: I'm conflicted!

Well, thank you to those who responded to my plea, and if anyone is interested in the outcome of this decision-making process, this is how it panned out.

As much as I tried to love the EM5ii,...

Re: I'm conflicted!

Checking still further, it does seem that an E-M5 Mk2 body with an added HLD-8G is not far short of the size of the EM1-mk2, and probably not far short in weight either. Actually, the E-M1 is not...

Re: I'm conflicted!

E-M1 or E-M5? The M1 would be too large for what I want. Ah, or are you saying find a cheap E-M5 mk1 and test-drive it?

Edit. Just looked at those sold through the usual outlets and they cost...

Re: I'm conflicted!

Thank you Chris. When you say it's significantly better with the grip, are you talking of the HLD-8G (less battery pack), or the basic ECG-2 which allows one to easily change the battery when it's...

Re: I'm conflicted!

That's a kind offer thank you David. I live near Abingdon, but I wouldn't be available for a couple of weeks at least, what with looking after our two grandsons during the hols! Perhaps I'll see how...

I'm conflicted!

Well it's a long time since I owned an Olympus, having since used the Panny GH2 and the Fuji XT1. I'm wondering whether to return!

The Fuji is a lovely camera and gives stunning images, but as I...

Re: Jensen Interceptor

As an after-thought, IIRC that curved rear screen was a devil to make and the failure rate was very high.

Re: Jensen Interceptor

Yes, me too! Very evocative set.

I remember rattling along at about 70m.p.h in my old Triumph Herald and was overtaken by an Interceptor. The noise was just a fleeting pom-pom-pom-. It was barely...

Methinks this thread has a taken a path of its own! I do like the notion of the newly discovered element though :D

On a more serious note, this video well explains what we are seeing in the image....

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

When our son got married a year ago the wedding photographer used a Fuji X-T2 for daylight shots, but a Nikon something or other because of its superiority when using flash.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I'll say squarely up-front that I'm not much into photography these days, (or contribute to this forum much either), and only occasionally use my MFT camera (not Olympus any more), so I'm not in the...

Re: Take Heed!

Interesting! A bit of memory lane for me, as I went to school in Harrow (not the Harrow!), and occasionally we'd walk up to the top of Harrow-on-the-Hill during our lunchtime. Too long ago now to...

Well, that's what loo paper is for!

Actually, I've noticed some supermarkets sell loo rolls on a rather smaller diameter core. Makes sense, as they can pack more goods into the box/lorry etc.and...

I guess they're the same sort of jet engine used in remote control model jet aircraft. And that is another world, see here for example.

Re: Salisbury nerve agent - just what the hell is that stuff?

You are quite right Jim, that once in the body it is a lot more difficult to detect, but there are ways when the amounts are significant, as in Litvinenko's case. However, the point I was making is...

Re: Salisbury nerve agent - just what the hell is that stuff?

So how else would you explain it to the general public? The risk is low, clearly, as no-one else has been affected, and the recommendation to wash clothes is a precautionary measure.

I think it is...
