Re: E-M1(ii) silver edition or Mk3?

Maybe people realised that it doesn't look as professional and having seen it they realised wanted a black one. I have not seen any complaints about the finish and as I said the Pen-F silver finish...

Re: E-M1(ii) silver edition or Mk3?

I only have a black one. But my Pen-F is silver and the finish is excellent. There is a good chance it is the same. Go ahead and get it, otherwise I think you will have a very long wait, and when the...

Re: E-M1(ii) silver edition or Mk3?

OK, so it isn't really a backup, it is a second camera, in frequent use. In that case get an E-M1 II.

Re: E-M1(ii) silver edition or Mk3?

If you do get one stick to Black. It is far less flashy and obvious, which is important with the sort of travelling you are planning. (I used to put black tape over the word Nikon on my film...

Re: E-M1(ii) silver edition or Mk3?

An alternative suggestion. Why not buy a Pen-F as your immediate backup, and then get the next E-M1 as well when it eventually appears. I find the Pen-F an outstanding little camera, and I carry it...

Re: Portugal servicing

I have used the Portugal service for two major repairs (one was to replace a smashed front element on the 7-14 Pro, the other complete IBIS failure on the original E-M1). Each time the service has...

Bracketing allows you to have 999 steps, not 99.

Re: Focus Stacking

A lens such as the 60mm or the 12-40 Pro is perfect.

Re: Focus Stacking

It is very different for Stacking and Bracketing.

With Stacking you focus on the main point, not the closest.
When there was a limit of 8 with Stacking, the sequence made was:
1. Focus is on the...

Re: Conflicting Info from Olympus re 3 Year Extended Warranty

He was telling us about the original E-M1 which he had. The E-M1 II has had no reports of the problem, we can safely assume they fixed it.

Re: Conflicting Info from Olympus re 3 Year Extended Warranty

I expect you know that the problem doesn't happen if you leave the dioptre adjustment set to near 0. In other words wear your glasses.

Re: Servicing company question

Why do you want to service it? What is wrong with it? Why not just give it a wipe with a damp cloth?

Re: Scanner Mode

The current version of the updater is 2.2
I realise that people report that 2.1.3 works, but I prefer to use the latest, which came out some time ago now.

Re: Scanner Mode

3.1 is much better.
The best way to solve your update problem is to install Olympus Workspace, then update all the software (from its menu), and then do the camera update (from its menu).
It is...

Re: Updating/adding to custom function

Not quite right as that won't let you assign the mode and the shutter speed/aperture.

Do the following to edit the C3 settings.
1. Set mode dial to P A S or M depending on which mode you want C3...

Re: C-AF preferring the background

I would suggest you stick with S-AF until you have upgraded to 3.1
3.1 is a huge improvement for C-AF.
Can't you borrow a PC for 10 minutes?

Re: C-AF preferring the background

Before you try anything else, follow these three steps.

1. Make sure you are using firmware 3.1. This is most important in your case.
2. Try single focus point.
3. Use C-AF not +TR.

I'm wondering why you didn't get it repaired directly with Olympus. The camera shop may have forgotten about it and it was still there!

Re: HELP: Pro Cap

Yes, with C-AF Sensitivity set to +2 the C-AF responds much more quickly.
Default setting of zero: delay before adjusting focus is 170ms.
Setting of +2: no delay before adjusting focus.
(There is...

Re: Another stupid question.

When doing tricky stuff only trust the histogram. Well worth displaying that in the viewfinder.
